It was pretty good as such things go. A lot of the debate was in context of the concerns of young people in college. Apparently both ayers and dinesh, being academics, can still relate to that state of mind.

Doubtful that any minds were changed by clarity of the arguments, but when people do occasionally change world-view, they seem to "switch over" and begin parroting arguments they had heard in the past and previously disagreed with. "religious conversion" So it is good for folks to hear both sides so they don't have to invent the same old arguments out of whole cloth when due for a switchover.

Ayers seems self-aware of the nutty factor of which he somtimes spouts, and managed to present himself as less radical, more rational and more reasonable than sometimes when he is being unguarded in sympathetic settings.

Dinesh managed to hold his own fairly well, though he had to work hard to verbally squirm out of some intellectual choke holds and half nelsons placed on him by student questions or ayers comments, trying to make some of his "relgious nutness" seem more rational than it may actually be.

I wish Harry Browne were still on the topside of the lawn. Harry could have mopped the floor with ayers, even with ayers doing his best to appear "reasonable". Edited by Lester Weevils

That's pretty much what I thought too, no "ah-ha" moments on anything and they did a good job of getting back on topic after that kid tried to needle dick Dinesh on some irrelevant topic about being anti-gay.
