Water line freeze and break?

Nope, we've been fortunate there. I am an aggressive faucet dripper when it gets really cold.

Main waterline outside the subdivision broke. The utility guys are working on it now. I was coming back from a 3 day trip to Knoxville when the wife called. I was really looking forward to a hot shower when I got home.

Then, I passed the utility guys working in a muddy trench, in the dark, in "oh my gosh" cold weather. Tuned my attitude right up.

Ps: this is the third time we've had to use a bit of our stored water. After fighting me about doing it for years having stored water has become a prepping gateway drug for my wife.

Ouch.  Just when you think your job sucks...

My first (and only) line of defense for water loss is my water heater.  But if the supply got contaminated like it did in WV, I'd be digging a solar still in the back yard.  I need to put a couple big water containers on my list.
