just read this, pretty bad;

 California Dept of Justice Gun
Confiscation Program

They don't give prior notice. The armed teams show up, usually at night, and
demand that you either let them search your property or voluntarily
relinquish all of your firearms. Be sure to read all of the following.
NRA Legislative Alert below and PLEASE take the time to view each video AND
PASS IT ON!

Local Law Enforcement in the City of Los Angeles and Orange County have
agreed to enforce Gun Confiscation (APPS - Armed Prohibited Persons
System<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32299/9/> )for the
California Department of Justice.

APPS: Protect Yourself if the Government Comes for Your Guns

[cid:X.MA7.1390969343@aol.com]

Attention residents of the City of Los Angeles and Orange County:

We recently learned that local law enforcement entities are conducting
firearm confiscation raids in your area on behalf of the California
Department of Justice, as part of its Armed Prohibited Persons
System<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32299/9/> (³APPS²)
program. These raids are typically conducted without search warrants.

Be prepared! While these raids are promoted by politicians as intended to
disarm dangerous criminals, they actually more often target unsuspecting
citizens who present no danger and have no idea that they are prohibited
from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Watch this video<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32300/10/> for
background on APPS¹s shortcomings and injustices, and this revealing
video<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32301/11/> in review of a
former DOJ Special Agent who formerly conducted APPS raids.

For an overview of how these confiscations are conducted, and information
about your rights when subjected to one, read this
memorandum<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32302/12/>.

If you are uncertain if you are prohibited from possessing a firearm or
ammunition, check your eligibility by submitting a Personal Firearms
Eligibility Check<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/32303/13/>
application to the California Department of Justice.

If you are prohibited from possessing firearms, contact an attorney to
discuss how best to restore your rights and comply with the law.

If law enforcement shows up at your home asking about firearms:

* Don¹t talk! Officers are trained to get people to make statements that
provide ³probable cause² to search and seize. Try not to even open the
door. Do not step outside your door or allow or invite officers into your
home, car, garage or any other building that you inhabit or in which you
have property. No search warrant - no entry. You do not have to physically
resist them They ruin their case if they violate law themselves such as
forcing entry (without a search or arrest warrant). Instead, provide the
officers with this
flyer<http://www.nramedia.org/t/2373564/99119954/28215/14/>, or tell the
officers that you assert your right to remain silent and want to have an
attorney present (actually say those words).
* Do NOT ³consent² to a search of your person, possessions, or home.
Insist on a search warrant. If they don¹t have a warrant, refuse the search
entirely and close the door.
* Consult a criminal defense lawyer immediately. You might not find it
necessary to retain a lawyer, but a half hour interview with one can often
be helpful. The actual retention of a criminal defense lawyer can be very
expensive.

Confirm whether you may legally possess firearms and learn your rights!
Don¹t take the rap for APPS!
Note: Some other states have taken note of California's firearm seizure
teams and are looking into whether they want to do the same kind of program.
Beware.

You have got to be ****ing me.

How can this even be allowed in this country? I cannot believe this. Seeing something like this just disgusts me... I just don't understand it. This is not what the founding fathers wanted. What in the hell do we do?

Well, the constitutional justification is that this is merely enforcing existing federal law regarding who can legally own a firearm, as per the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Bad on the gun confiscation but do I read it right that those persons were not allowed to own them in the first place? Possible felons or convection of domestic dispute?

It seems to be almost entirely people who have become ineligible after they first legally acquired the firearms.

I don’t see anything there from the NRA even though that is in the displayed name of the links. Those are all links from a CA attorney seeking business.
Are there some legitimate links or stories to back this up?

Oh, no doubt it's cranking up, beau coup reliable sources -- here's one at random,

http://www.fresnobee.com/2013/11/16/3613913/state-agents-sweep-fresno.html

NRA, NRA-ILA started mentioning it some back in the summer, but they've seemed reluctant to jump in full bore, and perhaps because they know it's legal as per federal law.

Here's one of the NRA vids on it:

I linked it from there because vid is featured, but it and maybe one more regarding it are on NRA main news site somewhere here:

You have been seeing a big push to have healthcare (psychiatric) records go into the TICS system.  The government can use your mental status to disallow your ownership of firearms.  Did you have PTSD after a tour in the sand?  That could disallow your 2nd Amendment rights.  Get some Zoloft after your mom died?  Same thing.  Did you have a bad divorce where your ex-wife made up a story about how you pushed her?  Same result.

The government is letting fewer and fewer citizens legally own firearms.

If you are faced with this situation, I hope you have prepared.

It appears to me like a lawyer is trying to scare people into his office more than anything but with that said. That law is very similar in most states. If you had no issues and were able to purchase a firearm and then later got convicted of a felony you do lose your firearms privileges at that point. In some cases depending on the charges you may be able to get your rights back and legally own a gun but I think you have to jump through a bunch of hoops and pay a lot of money to an attorney to get that privilege back for you. Not sure on that but have been told that a couple times in the past...............jmho
