I'd look into noveske NSR rails for light weight. I've done two builds with them and they are amazingly light. Lightest rail I've used hands down.

Midway has good information on all the rails. The Midwest is lighter and significantly cheaper then the Noveske, but I understand some people really like Noveske.

Ive got a yhm diamond 13". You hit the nail on the head....suckers heavy! Though about selling it to find a lighter one but im gonna go all out on my current build so ill probably just live with it

What about a carbon fiber free float tube? Then drill it and install the rail sections where you want.

The Clark carbon fiber tube w alum nut is extremely light, lightest on the market.used one on an ar I built last year on Dolomites recommendation.

Troy Alpha rail and Daniel Defense LW barrel is a nice little combo. Most people that have picked mine up notice how light it is. I was going to build my second one almost the exact same way but then the TGO lower deals developed. Now I want to scrap the second build and move on to the TGO 300BO build.

Well I made some moved in the last week. Took of the YHM rail and heavy profile barrel and sold them both. Now I have a Ranier Arms mountain series CHF 16" mid weight on the way. As well as a MI Gen II Free Float. The barrel is 1lb 9oz and the free float is 9.3 oz

You could wait until the BCM KMR (keymod rail) comes out. It is supposed to be rediculously light and slim. http://www.bravocompanymfg.com/kmr/ that site shows the KMR13 but they will have a KMR10 as well. Designed by Eric of VLTOR and made with an aluminum-magnesium alloy. Should be around $250-270.

 

LW barrels are also an option. There are the BCM, DD, and Spikes LW barrels that are good options. Or you can flute or recontour the barrel at ADCO https://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/

Most of the weight is back in the stock. I can hold and fire with one hand now. Really happy. Also please with the rail and adjustment screw line up.

Total weight is a little over 8lbs. Most of the weight is back in the stock. I can hold and fire with one hand now. Really happy.

That is awesome! Really liking about everything that bad boy has got going for itself. The gas block aligning with the rail like that is just too cool.
