great day

Nothing like spending 4 hours repairing and repainting four holes in the wall because a friend forgot to check of the rifle was chambered. I'm just hoping my folks don't notice and I am glad no neighbors were home. Would post to photos, but parents would use it as evidence. And running to home depot, got a flat tire. Great day :|

I'm hoping the answer is 10 or 12, because your decision making abilities seem to be on the level.[/quote] Lol ... his profile says 23 ... How does 1 accidental discharge make four holes in the wall? Or did the round go through several walls and you're patching them all? I'd be upfront with the parentals about that sort of thing. In my experience they're going to find out some how because someone runs their mouth, or they notice the patch work and start asking questions. Plus, it's their house and they have a right to know so they can get stuff checked out by a professional, you know, in case your friend shot a pipe or some electrical wiring. It sounds like you're lucky you didn't end up on the news or in jail. Also sounds like you and your friend need some proper instruction in gun safety.

Or by some illogical coincidence, someone posts it on the internet.  :ugh:

Four holes? Four walls one shot? One wall four shots? Whose rifle, yours? Seems you need new friends and learn a little firearms responsibility. No excuse!!!

If it is four walls and you have neighbors I would be checking more than just my walls. Four rounds is far too many rounds  accidently  negligently unless your shooting full auto.

It went thru my wall and the hall way. 4 different sides of 2 walls. It was a single round, and most homes are made of crappy drywall. Yeah. I need better friends. Thankfully, nothing electrical was hit and I was able to repaint and fill the holes without issue. Good thing 5.56 makes a small hole. He played for the paint and supply's. And now I get to hang on to to this 1903 spring field as collateral for the next 3 weeks. I'm going to shoot the hell out of it. And yes, I'm 23 but right now I feel like a 13 year old. The guilt is eating me alive. And now my boss called me asking for a good pistol for home defence. I wonder if I will be pulled over and charged for something. Its been such a stellar Monday. I wonder how the rest of the week will go. Edited by RC3

No offense meant, but no one inside my house is handling a gun unless I clear it first. Or I personally look in the chamber. If they have a problem with that they can take their gun and go and if it is my gun it will be cleared. I have never had an issue with that.

If that was your gun it wasnt just your friends fault, if it was his it still isnt just his fault. If someone were to do that in my home, I would have to take full responsibility for not insuring a gun in MY home was cleared.

Like I said, no offense meant, but a reminder, that 5.56 round went through two walls, if you were standing in another room you could have killed a neighbor and we would be reading on the news how it was a gun handling "accident".

Be safe.

And BTW, you said that round went through two walls and created four holes. That means that round kept traveling unless the far hole was a dent. Where did the round go?

My guess is, two walls. In one side, out the other, in one side, out the other. Boom, four holes, two walls, one bullet.

The outside of the house is brick and I am thank full that nothing worse happened. I always keep a rifle and a pistol chambered just in case. My dad and my brother know and they also know to to defend themselves if they need to. He carelessly didn't check to make sure. So much for him buying that rifle. And know I get to look for an apt vs buying the house I was saving for.

You're real lucky I'm not resuscitating one of you, or your neighbor, in my ICU. But it seems like you got away with this one, so whatever. I hope you let it be more of a learning experience than your aloof attitude about the situation comes across in your posts. If you're at least going to "shoot the hell" out of your rifle ... next time do it outside, in a safe direction, and remember your gun safety. I know about gun safety. I am sorry if the post came out as a bit cocky, but trust me, the stress from all of this is killing me. I got my first rifle when I was 18 and this not fun. Hell, I'll probably shove that 1903 on the back of my closet and not even look at it.

First off, I'm Glad everyone is ok and hopefully it is a learning experience for both you and your friend. Second, I agree with a couple of the above posters. Gun safety is more then you personally being safe when holding a firearm.  If it's your firearm, it is your responsibility. Your friend should have never be in possession of your loaded firearm.  - End Rant

It's your house Sir, did YOU check? Glad you guys are OK, but it could have had a much worse end. Gun safety isn't just one persons responsibility, it's everyone's!!!

Learned my lesson. Going to invest in a safe and not left friends nor family touch them from now on.

RC3 as the saying goes *hit happens.

The deal is learn from it, don't let it happen again.

I'd come clean to the parents about it too, no one got hurt(luckily), you repaired the damage, you own up to it and show some integrity and character..

Actions have consequences.

Yeah. My dad laughing it off while my mom calls the police. He's pro guns and she isn't. This would push her over the edge.

Very seldom I will hand over a loaded and chambered gun to someone else, I have to know that they are very knowledgable and will always tell them it's loaded and chambered. If I have any doubts I will remove the mag and rack the slide to empty the chamber, lock the slide back and show them, or unlatch the cylinder and eject the rounds then hand it to them. There's some people I trust not to put their finger in the trigger guard and pull the trigger without knowing,I know these people always check the action when handed a gun, I hope that doesn't bite me some day.

Troll?

Hmm in the past week this user has started threads about

1) A ND in his home.  (This thread)

2) Being mysteriously tailgated by a cop. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75306-tail-gating/

3) Comptemplated illegally carrying a handgun. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75281-carry-question/

and 4) His car being mysteriously damaged while drinking moonshine http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75212-not-paing-attention/

I find these threads entertaining because this stuff isn't happening to me and I live far enough away from him to not be concerned with wayward bullets coming from his house or his drunken "friends" crashing his car into my stuff.  This dude is either a) a troll, b) So bad at making decisions that he should run on the democratic presidential ticket in 2016.  Or c) the unluckiest person to ever walk the face of the earth.

Seriously, RC3 if you are truly just a guy that is having a bad run of luck and making some less than good decisions, please for the sake of you and all of those around you, sit back contemplate your direction in life.  Ask yourself "is this a good idea?" and ask yourself that question often.  Seriously evaluate the people you are hanging out with.  Sometimes you need to cut some of the people in your life out for your own sake.  The things that you do over the next couple of years are going to determine what the rest of your life is going to be like, make wise choices!

I must be the only one sitting here still contemplating how there is only four bullet holes. Lmao. Two walls, two entry holes two exit holes. Then the bullet came to rest in an outer brick wall. I'm seeing five holes. Lol
