Primer type for Knight muzzleloader?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,
I found what looks to be a very good pawn shop deal on a Knight inline muzzle loader rifle. After some inspection, I could not find a model number on the barrel, and could not find a match for this particular model on the Knight website.

I'm hoping this rifle takes 209 shotgun primers, but is there any way to find out for sure if this is the case? If this rifle takes disc primers, I may not be as interested.

Thanks for any insight you may be able to give me...

You should be able to inspect the breech and determine primer type. Most that I've seen that took disc had a type of nipple on the breech plug similar to a plug that took percussion caps. A breech plug that holds 209 shotgun primers will look like it has a 1/4 inch hole drilled in the end. If the hole is threaded then it takes a nipple for number 11 size caps or the bigger musket caps.

I'm not much help when it comes to Knight Muzzleloaders. I would go back and inspect the gun again. It seems to me there has to be some info on the barrel somewhere!
