Need advice on soft AR case

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a soft AR case, but with so many out there, I'd like some input from those who know.

Things I'm looking for;

-About $60 or less.

-Quality. I know I may not be able to expect $200 quality, but I'd like the best quality for the money.

-36" or close to it. I think the AR should fit into a 36" just fine.

-Magazine pouches

-Inner straps to hold the AR in place would also be nice.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can come up with.

I have a Blackhawk discret rifle case and I love it. It looks like a guitar case. It has one compartment with velcro to hold the rifle and another compartment with three mag holders and you can add some of Blackhawks other components like pouches and holsters. The zippers are good quality and the case will hold up/has held up. I think I got mine for around $80 dollars on sale at Midway USA a while back. :tough:

I bought this case for mine:

http://www.uscav.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=16703&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&cm_mmc=Google%20Base-_-Products-_-SF-_-V1

It's pretty big but I can fit my AR, 2 pistols and a ton of ammo in it. It's got big pockets to hold targets and much more. With all this inside it weighs a ton but a nice bag nonetheless.

it's just a bit out of your budget but if you care to consider...

Drop by Greene Military and check out the Condor cases. They are inexpensive, I'm not sure the $$$ on them, I bought mine a while back...but they have all the features you listed.

I have an Olive Drab one from Tac-Force. But it holds two rifles.

I paid about $65 bucks for it at Knob Creek during the machine gun shoot a couple of years ago. Well made. Heavy duty zippers, thick canvas material, compartment on the side can hold eight 30rd. AR mags easy. Has a good shoulder strap. Holds my wife's AK, and my AR (16") just fine. I sometimes put my Savage 110 in there, so it will hold it, but is tight. No tie down straps... that would have been cool.

They had 'em that only held one, for the same price. But I was looking for one that held two. I have a cheap "ACE" case that is about 10 years old if I want to carry just one. It's black, and holds five mags on the outside. Think I paid $30 bucks for it back then.

Here is a really crappy picture that probably won't help much of the Tac force... more for color reference than anything else.

Well, I sent that Bulldog case I originally ordered back to Sportsman's Guide and exchanged it for their Winchester soft padded assault rifle case. I got it today and it's very nice.......and it only cost $20! It appears to be well made, big sturdy zippers, nice padding, and 5 mag pouches on the side.....well worth the money for sure. If you don't want to spend a lot of cash and still get a nice case...this is it.

I have a pretty nice case/bag by Michael's of Oregon, labeled for Blackwater Tactical. It is about the size you want and has the velcro straps to hold it in place. There is only one large zipper pocket though on the outside. It is not compartmentalized. I would prefer that.

For the money that looks like an awesome case. Add to that the three Molle pouches and the future expandability of the case it self by adding additional units to it. It looks like a hell of a deal.

I will probably be picking up one of these in 42" pretty soon.
