Yildiz Over and Under, Updated Opinions

My oldest son turns 10 in March.  I want to buy him his first shotgun, something he and I can enjoy together.  Shooting clays is what I have in mind since I already shoot a lot of clays using my Browning O/U.  I thought about a Stoeger 410 or 28ga O/U, but have ran across some not so flattery reviews.  I have stumbled across Yildiz O/U.  I searched TGO, and found these older posts below.  Any updated opinions, or anyone have personal experience?  Anyone know if Academy in Knoxville or Chattanooga have any in stock?

Some older TGO posts on Yildiz:

Thanks for any input.

I definitely got a lot of feedback from here!  NOT, so I guess no one in TGO land had one or had a opinion one way or another.

Anyway, I did buy one from Academy the other night.  I bought the Yildiz 410 O/U.  It really is a sharp looking and tight O/U.  It comes with 5 chokes and has auto ejectors.  The gun is made in Turkey and is imported by Academy Sports.  My son turns 10 tomorrow, and he thinks he is just getting some electronics or games, and yes he is a Pokemon card collector, and thinks he getting some cards.  He will be in for a big surprise.  I remember when my dad got me my first 410 single shot, I still have it, and its priceless as far as I am concerned.  I hope to take him shooting in about 2 weeks.  Afterwards I will make a small write up on the gun.

I bought the Russian made Spartan by Remington O/U 12ga from Academy a few years ago. It has been a great field shotgun.

I looked at the Yildez while there. They looked to be well made. The Turks have been making shotguns for a long time.

I bought a 20g o/u yildez for my kids to shoot clays, wife who is a skilled shotgunner cleaned up with it. Nice gun from my perspective, decent value. Seems to be a fairly nice entry level shotgun. Edited by red dirt

Congrats on both the purchase and the time in life you and your son can share this sport! I've got a couple of Huglu(s). Picked them up in Turkey during a deployment. Till then I have never heard of them. A couple of guys with me were foaming out the mouth for em. I've gotta say they were right. Fine guns and they were a great value. From what I've read the yildez is a derivative of the huglu. You should get many many years of good use out of it.
