Whats this mag fit?

The following is a magazine that a friend has, and we're dumbfounded as to what it might fit, everything I thought it may be has turned up incorrect. It appears to be an aftermarket mag (stamped "Made in the USA by D&E). The only other marking is "12" next to one of the holes as shown in the photo, apparently as an indicator of a double stack full magazine of 12 rds. The magazine fits a .30-06 M2 ball rounds very nicely in overall length. It does not seem to be the correct mag for any US military weapon I could think of. 8mm possibly? Any ideas? Its a pretty beefy mag, whatever its for, I'd love to shoot it!

There are some similarities it appears, but this mag seems much longer than the 10rd 742 mags, and doesn't have the tapered bottom like the 10rd mags. I can't find any reference online to a 12rd 742 mag. Anybody have one in Knoxville or Oak Ridge, we can try it in? Memphis, if I can confirm thats what this is, the mag will probably be for sale.

Found this on Guns America. http://www.gunsamerica.com/977376244/Non-Guns/Magazines-Clips/Rifle-Magazines/Other/Clip_Remington_760_7600_742_7400_30_06_Mag_10_Shot_Exc.htm

This aftermarket magazine fits most Remington Pump or Auto Center fire Rifles in Long Action Caliber. It is in Excellent Condition, 100% blue steel, marked Made in USA by D & E. It has a 12 round capacity, so it is not legal in states like California. We’re offering it for only $ 24.95

And a thread on THR where they are discussed.
