Sig Sauer P224

I've been wanting to get a Sig for a while, but have trouble deciding which. Every time I think I know which one I want they keep coming out with something new that I like as much or more.

I love the capacity, but went with a p239 after trying the p224 out. I found I prefer the slightly narrower single stack grip for carry, at least when I was wanting a "little smaller" for carry. Otherwise I just carry my p229.

To me, it still looks pretty thick. I don't see any advantages with this that I can't get from a Glock 26, XD subcompact, or M&P Compact.

If your other carry or dept. issued pistol is a p229, M11, or p226 and you carry spare mags for those on your belt they work in either gun. I.E. possible excellent backup/off duty for a LEO normally carrying a p229. It has to be thick to get the capacity and compatibility with sig's double stack mags.

 

So it's no different in application than a owning a glock 19 and carrying a glock 26 as a backup/more concealable option.

 

As for the price it's a Sig, it is what it is, I doubt they were shooting for the "budget friendly backup firearm" slot with this but I understand it turns some people off of the brand.

That would be a really large back up gun. Not sure how that could be pulled off. It looks bigger than the Glock 26

I usually don't like Glocks due to their width, because I can't get my fingers comfortably around the grip.

 

The last few Sigs I've held feel just as wide, but oddly the grip seems to have a smaller circumference.

 

I'm starting to come around to accepting a little more width, but I can't tolerate an unnecessarily fat grip on a handgun. YMMV
