you never ever think you unloaded your gun. You make sure you unload it and not by pulling the damn trigger. That should tell folks about the intelligence of elected officials for the most part..............jmho

"She thought she unloaded it. She pulled the trigger, firearm does not have a safety If I recall correctly. But she pointed it away from the person in the room," said Stumbo.

If you're stupid enough to pull the trigger to see if it's unloaded, at least have the courtesy to look down the barrel so you can see if anythings coming toward you. :wall:

What safety procedures did she follow exactly cause I am not seeing any of them being followed...

But she pointed it away from the person in the room," said Stumbo.

That seems to be the only safety measure she used.

I tell new shooters to memorize the letters LMFT and let them go through your mind as you're handling any firearm.  It's just another way of memorizing the four rules, but I've found that people will memorize an acronym faster than the full verbiage.

It's Loaded! Always assume it's loaded.

Watch where you're pointing the Muzzle! Don't point it at anything you're not willing to destroy.

Keep your Finger out of the trigger well until you're about to fire. Keep your bugger hook off the bang switch works too, but there's no F in it.

Identify your Target and be mindful of what is past your target if you should miss.

At least she managed to follow M and T.  If you can manage that the worst thing you'll have is some property damage and hearing loss.  That and having to explain to the police / family / friends / coworkers / boss etc... why you just blew a hole in the <insert object here>.

And yes, I know I'm preaching to the choir around here.  :D
