NY Governor says extreme conservatives "have no place in the state of New York"

I'm sure the travel industry in New York just loves this guy.

… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

I get a kick out of these statements.  It's the same as the I'll never go to Illinois statements.  Let's be clear, NY is not simply NYC and Illinois is not simply Chicago.  Get 45 miles outside of either one and you are most likely in a conservative area.  The problem is that the two large cities over represent the larger area of the state.  It's unfortunate, but I know as many rednecks and conservatives from NY and IL as I do TN.  There are some beautiful parts of NY and IL and some other Liberal leaning states.  I don't let their ignorance dictate my desire to go take in the beauty of our country.  You're missing out if you do.

This is also not to say that I agree with their douchebag Governor.  I don't like what he has to say, but I will support his right to say it.

I'm not missing out on anything, I have no desire to see anything in New York/NYC, big cities don't impress me. I saw Chicago from the window of a 737 landing at midway, the Sears tower looked 1/4" tall from my view and that's was good enough for me. Then I caught a plane to Salt Lake City and drove to Yellowstone, a far more scenic and beautiful drive through states who respect individual freedom and the constitution far more than the socialist states. The fact I didn't carry my gun because of the plane ride didn't bother me, just knowing that if I drove I could have leagally carried in those states made me feel welcome.

I know there's alot of good people in NY and Illinoise who would respect my rights and opinion but apparently they are the minority because anti-freedon socialists like Cuomo get elected there, so the majority of the people obviously don't like me because of my opinions and I own guns. I'm not going anywhere i'm not wanted, I prefer nature over cities anyway, seen one big city then you've seen them all as far as im concerned.

I'm with you, buddy. Been to NYC, Chicago, and LA. There was nothing there that made me want to return. This summer I'm taking the wife AND our tourist greenbacks to see the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon. She wants to go to NYC some day, so I suggested she get a girl trip going with some of her friends. I won't ever go back as long as nutjobs like Cuomo and de Blasio are running the show up there.

The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and Meteor Crator are on my list someday. I want to drive there through Ark. Ok. Tx. and Ar. and bring my handgun with me. I figure you take Nashville, copy it 4 times and place them side by side, stack a few buildings on top of each other and add a few million more liberals then you have NYC. If I want to see NYC or LA etc., i'll go to Google images.

If you have never been to Yellowstone I suggest that also, beautiful mountains and some awsome unique scenery. Some places look like an alien planet not to forget that you are standing in the middle of the biggest active super volcano.

Putting aside the politics, i find NY. to be an amazing place - every kind of food imaginable is there, great museums (funded by wealthy capitalists), broadway and tons of history. Yes, the gov let the mask slip, and revealed what we all know to be true - the left wishes to define their positions as "normal" and conservative positions as extreme.

Wishes to? They have been doing so for decades. And it's working. Look at the craven attitudes of so-called conservative politicians, trying to pander to people who are never going to vote for them, leaving those who would hanging out to dry.

Haha. No.

A bunch of big buildings and alot of people, that's about it as far as i'm concerned. Some people want to see that and that's okay if that's what they like, I just don't have any desire to see it. I can think of many other things I would rather see than NYC. Chicago, LA. etc. like Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah. I know California has some beautiful natural scenery but that's another place i'm not going to visit either, you can only see so much in a lifetime anyway.

New York is cesspoll. Doesn't matter that I'm not wanted, Ive been there once and have no desire to ever go back. Same as Commiefornia. I spent 2 years in that state on military orders, and hated it. Great weather, and some decent scenery once you get out of the city, but people were generally rude (not all of them) and in way to much of a hurry over everything. I'll stick to my mountains and hollers, they can keep their cities. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

If Cuomo is successful and ran every conservative out of the state, his state would only become another Cali. Go for it, Andrew.

Your liberal views will cost you. I hate it that good people would suffer, but that's what you get when you vote, or don't.

There are lots of conservatives in Commiefornia. Just not near enough

I agree to each is own, but I think a lot of people miss out on some really great things around the US and world with that mentality.  Saying NYC is just a bunch of big buildings is like saying the Great Wall is just some stone, the Eiffel Tower is just some metal, and Taj Majal is just a big house.  I agree, nature is beautiful and there are a lot of great nature places to visit in this country and around the world, but I would encourage everyone to take the time if they have it to appreciate some of the things man has built as well.  If you are able and have the resources, visit the ruins of Greece and Rome, go to Venice, check out Machu Picchu.  In the US, check out the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C., or many other places.  I completely understand not enjoying big crowds, but there is some impressive stuff out there if you will take the time to look.  I admit I have been very fortunate to visit many places around the world so maybe I have a different perspective.  You may hate D.C., but everyone should go to Arlington National Cemetary (technically not D.C. I know).  It will humble even the most cantankerous person.

Fascism is alive and well in the world and in the United States.

It is not enough for a fascist to simply disagree; for the fascist, those they disagree with must be silenced...must not be allowed to have their opinion or share their opinion and in the extreme, must not be allowed to exist. History is replete with examples of where the path of "you can't think that" leads and I'm a afraid that this country my be on that very same path.

I am amused that the people you are calling fascist would call you the same thing.

I don't feel like i'm missing out by not visiting NYC, i'm just not that into big buildings and large crowds or high dollar fancy restaurants. I'm pretty satisfied with what i've seen and done, when I decide to see something new it will be nature. The people of a city or state make the city or state anyway, i'm sure there's alot of decent polite people in NYC but there's alot of jerks and a-holes also just like most big cities. I don't even care to go to Nashville unless I have business there.

I'm not saying you should want to go. There just happened to be more to it than big buildings and crowds (though I actually found NYC to be somewhat uncrowded while I was there).

Personally, I'm more of a countryside kinda guy myself but big cities are interesting once in a while (Nashville isn't a big city).

And they are allowed to think that and/or call me that but they would be wrong.

I'm not a fascist because I can disagree with someone and still respect, work with or even be very good friends with that person (and some of my very closest friends in the world are light years apart form me on some issues)...a fascist can't do that...it's not enough for them to disagree; a fascist has to silence those who disagree or even expel them (or in the extreme; exterminate).

Yuup. NYC, Chicago and many other places do have wonderful and intriguing and thought-provoking things to see and do. There are plenty of things I'd really like to see in NYC (aside from the airport where I've been multiple times) but I don't feel very welcome there and likely will never see.

Yup, I felt the same way at Chicago's Midway when I wanted to experience one of them Chicago sausage dogs. The lady server was rude and looked at me as if I were some kind of alien white trash, especially when she heard my hillbilly accent. My first thought was to suggest she go forth and fornacate with herself in my enhanced hillbilly accent but instead of embarrassing my brother I just took the "dawg" and paid the (female dawg). Also I didn't see or taste the big deal about the Chicago sausage dog, didn't taste any better than anything I could have put together from the Bellvue Publix. Anyway, we left Chicago less than an hour from that and flew to a much nicer city, Salt Lake City. That's all I care to experience from Chicago.

Hah, yeah. New York hot-dogs are rubbish too. I don't know why there's so fuss about them.

haha thems fighting words! Lol why dont you just say something bad about our pizza. Haha. What I miss is not the hot dogs themselves, but the red onion sauce you can get on them. But all and all I'm glad i left when I did. I just couldnt see my son growing up the way I did.

that guy is just saying what everyone already knew... what conservative wants to live in a state that taxes the crap out of you, has an express lane for murdering babies, arrests you for having too many bullets in a gun while defending your life and bans sodas over 16 ounces?
