300 black out sabot

I have a bunch of these from years ago when I tried them in my 308. Best groups i ever got were around 3.5 moa, but i was pushing a 60 gr V-max around 3700 fps. A lot of work to get things lined up and barrel has to be super clean. Anyway something to think about.

A .223 necked up to a 30, and then saboted back down to a .223. That makes my head hurt :)

In the same boat, it is something to look into.

Static, where are you getting the components?

You mean like a 22-250?

Exactly what I was about to say. But to answer his question,  make a smaller hole going in and immediately start ripping a much larger one turning once normal flesh into hamburger meat.

Back when Remington was making factory sabot ammo in 30-06 and .308 cases, I don't recall it being the most accurate stuff out there. It WAS real fast.

Bet it would play heck in a can.

Thanks for the link.

That just made me cringe :) May not even make it through a tight muzzle brake

Just thinking, I wonder if the plastic sabot slips around the bullet as it is trying to spin it.

I doubt that. I think it's just sloppy tolerances, and probably the sabot messing with bullet stability when it falls away..

They don't recommend shooting through brakes, suppressor is obvious unless you trying to keep forensic evidence to a minimum. Might act as a sabot "catch"

The first one of these I ever saw was in an NRA gun safety class back when I was 14 or so. It was a factory Remington round with a 22 cal projectile shoved into a 30-06 case. We thought it was pretty cool at the time. That was like 44 years ago. At some point, Remington discontinued them. I don't think it was that long ago. Never shot any of them.
