Professional Ordnance Carbon 15

My boss and I often discuss our love for guns, and he had been telling me about this carbon AR-15 that he's had for quite a while. Though some of you may know all about it, I had never seen one.

When he was talking about this carbon AR, I just assumed the stock, handguard, and maybe a few other little parts were made of carbon. I was wrong.

Well, be brought it in today. It ended up being a Professional Ordnance Carbon 15, with a carbon fiber upper and lower receiver, stock and handguard. It also had a stainless fluted barrel and quick release flash hider. Everything was super lightweight. I think the whole thing weighs in at about 4.5 pounds. Amazing.

He said that most of the reviews were on the negative side. Something about FTF's and FTE's, I think. Maybe something about the handguard getting warm as well. Hell, I can't remember--I was to amazed with how light it was. He claims to have put several hundred rounds through it, without a single issue. I don't know if all the negative reviews are justified, but that thing sure was bada$$.

Bushmaster Carbon-15 rifles are the Professional Ordnance rifle of today. Don't know if Bushmaster bought out PO or not, but the few .223's we've had through here have been decent. Did have two friends of mine purchase the 9mm carbon when it came out and both of them exploded... a word to the wise.

4.5lbs would be amazing....that would definitely be a gun better left unmodified to keep the weight savings...I just cant understand for the life of me why someone would take a relatively light M4 and mod it to the point that it weighs more then an AK.

Yes, Bushmaster is now making them. With all the negative press about these, I don't think I'd be as brave enough to buy one like my boss, but I sure would love to have one if they could ever correct the potential issues.

Honestly, there wasn't anything real amazing about the actual look of the gun. I was more amazed at the weight. Well, the barrel and quick release flash hider were pretty cool, too.

Due to it's design, you are quite limited on the mods and/or add-ons. His version was anyway. There was a small area where he had a small flashlight mounted towards the end of the barrel, but that was it.
