Things that make you wonder

Today I called a gunshop about buying a mainspring for my 1911. I'm swapping the ILS crap out for standard parts. It seems they have this spring, but, they won't sell me this spring unless I pay them to install it.

I guess that need for a $40 bench fee just wiped out any chances for future purchases. But, another shop in the area was more than willing to add my spring on their next order to save me a chunk on shipping.

Just another fine interaction with CCA.

They won't SELL you the spring, unless you pay them to install it? Color me skeptical, but is there more to this...? Swapping a mainspring takes all of 2 minutes (if that).

He hasn't given the true account of the conversation and has even go as far as to embellish from his end as to what the end result might have been.

I think he should "man up" and tell exactly what was said in the conversation.

They charged me 30$ on a warranty part to change out on a gun that I bought from there.(brand spankin new G26)

I took the gun apart on the counter, showed them what was wrong, they agreed, took the whole gun, (wouldn't just take the part or the upper), gave me a nice little bill.

I counter your bull****

Joe, I was tere a few months ago looking for a cary handle scope rail. Had issues getting someone to help me find the part I was looking for, and then it was not in stock. Left without making a purchase, and have not returned, Just a little far for me to get a ride to west Knox.

Mitigating Circumstances....

Saturday lunchtime

Firing line was full and people standing around waiting to get in, possibly HCP class, not sure

y0u are not MidwayUSA and I dont expect you to carry every part for every gun in the world.

I am leggally blind and require a "hugher level of service" than most of your customers, of whom I expect few are Blind LOL

I too run my own business and understand about customer service issues, and how they can make you want to rip employees from throat to groin, and I see you are now hiring. I figured you had either gotten rid of a problem, or were trying to improve CS, so I have decoided to give it another chance.

Guys, every one makes mistakes, the guys who make em right are the good guys in my book. At least give Joe the chance to reply to your problems B4 you go all out in giving him the finger.

Just my .02 cents

Are you referring to me? or Jonathan at CCA?

If I were a betting man and I've been seen around more than one race track or two in Kentucky especially in the spring and fall, I'd be betting that he was referring to Jonathan over at the 'crick'. BTW Joe, we already took care of that little spring problem for grimel. Like you, we certainly don't have a problem ordering parts for customers to install themselves if they choose.:)

JWP,

This is the SECOND time you've implied I'm a liar.

Okay, I'll "man-up".

2:11 PM 17 Sept 2008 I dialed 966-4545 from my cell phone. Apparently you answered the phone since you've claimed I haven't given a true account of the conversation. I then asked if you had a mainspring for a government 1911. The response was yes. I then asked if you could check if you had one in stock because I didn't want to drive from Oak Ridge if you didn't have it with gas prices as they are. You then said we don't sell to the public. I then said, well I guess I have a reason to never come to your shop, then I hung up. Always nice when the boss answers the phone.

So, when are you going to "man-up" and admit your staff is marginal and YOU like to play the big wheel "PM me I'll investigate" everytime someone has problem after claiming BS. Once it's sour grapes from a customer. Twice, okay, maybe you're having bad luck. Thrice, hmmm, four times, it might be your shop.

I think CCA and ATF should have a battle royale. :):)

Phantom6 can stay out of it. I want to see how JWP dances around implying I'm a liar.

I hate to see the direction this is going. I hope whatever issues there may be are resolved and everyone walks away happy. I don't want to see more fine folks kicked off of this site or pissed off at each other.

Your initial post claims that we only would sell you the part if we could intall it and charge you for installing it, yet no mention was made of that in your follow up post. Why? Because that part of the conversation never took place. It was an embellishment on your part to foster more support on your anti-CCA crusade.

As a matter of fact is was explained to you that we do not sell parts. You responded, angrily, with, "That's fine, just fine!" and hung up.

This is getting out of hand and has gotten quite a bit of attention from the moderators. Let me close this thread by copying Eddie's (Molonlabetn) thoughts from the staff area:

Since it is inevitable for customer service issues between the vendors and members, here, to occur. I'd like to make it very clear where TGO stands on such incidents.

TGO is not, and will not be a customer-service complaint board. Those matters should be handled privately once they are made known. However, it is certainly fair for users to post feedback about their experiences, at least once they have either been resolved or not resolved.

[such feedback should be directed] to the proper place (Buyer/Seller Feedback sub-forum).

The idea is for TGO to be as un-biased as possible, and promote courteous conduct between members. Customer service issues are not TGO's responsibility unless the result affects our credibility as a source for good vendors and good information. We have all witnessed what occurs in those cases.

I personally think that we have a good vendor base, and a good customer base. And I hope to see that continue... because the biggest thing which this board does create, whether or not the staff does anything about it, is a very large showcase for feedback and perception towards a vendor. That can either work for you or against you, depending on the effort you put forward. I hope that if we all recognize that, we can work together with that in mind.

In closing, I would encourage all of us to [privately] discuss any issues which arise, before they get out of hand. This is the place to do that.

*Emphasis mine.
