An armed man entered a Orrville, Ala., Dollar General on Thursday, waved his gun in the air and threatened to kill everyone, AL.com reports. Though motive is unclear, he never got the chance to hurt anyone because a customer carrying a concealed handgun neutralized him with a deadly shot.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I'm gonna say the hcp holder did the right thing. Is he gonna have a hard time proving he was in fear for his life and couldn't get away, maybe. Edited by tennessee01tacoma

So bad for the thug, so sad for the shooter that he may have to defend himself and have legal fees. Under the circumstances of the shooting, the shooter shouldn't be investigated at all, whether he was carrying legally or not. He saved no telling how many lives. Stuff like this just makes me sick.

Doubtful he will have to prove anything about the shooting justification. But sadly it appears there is a question of whether or not be had a permit; glad that can’t happen in TN.

When you start waving a gun around threatening to kill people; you are bought and paid for.

And I do mean to sound insensitive; Thanks to the victim; he took a dirtbag criminal off the street.

Yeah, anyone that threatens the lives of innocent people deserves to die. Not just in the moment, but that should be a sentence doled out by the court if such a person is taken alive. Violent criminals who prey on the innocents of society don't deserve a second chance. They deserve to die. Edited by TMF

In Alabama they have no duty to retreat. He stood his ground and killed someone who was intent on hurting others. Additionally, I don't believe one has to prove or admit they were afraid if they are protecting another person.

The Alabama expanded self-defense law allows the use of deadly force in self-defense or defense of others if you reasonably believe someone is using or about to use unlawful deadly physical force while committing or about to commit any of the following crimes: burglary, kidnapping, assault in the first or second degree, burglary, robbery, forcible rape, or forcible sodomy.

Your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

What if he had retreated out the back and several people had been killed.

What if he had waited until the perp actually killed someone before he acted.

I think he did the right thing.

Whatever you do your going to catch hell from somebody.

According to the story, the gunman was holding him and a cashier hostage and moving them towards another room at gunpoint. He didn’t have the chance to run out the back.

I don’t think he will have any issues; unless the permit becomes an issue.

Sorry I just read the article, and I was just saying.

To me he was clearly justified and this should be a no brainer.

I can promise yall this. If I am in a store and some maniac comes storming in the door ranting and waving a gun and threatening to kill everyone in the store I will do everything in my power to end his plans as fast as possible. Like a post in the blazed mentioned. In that case I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6. I'm quite sure there will be enough very thankful people willing to testify in my favor..............jmho

sounds like a good shoot to me... here in Tennessee even if you are carrying in a no gun zone and have to use your weapon in self defense you can't be charged with anything

^This is true. But brace yourself for the inevitable civil suit.
