Empty shot bags filled with sand make cheap bags. Even cheaper is the lower legs of old blue jeans. Sew both ends shut and fill with sand, or cat litter or ?????

that is what i was thinking about doing was taking a pair of old blue jeans and finding something like bb's so it would retain moisture.

I've heard of folks using "airsoft pellets" since they are plastic and cheap.

That's a good idea. Was trying to think of something impervious to moisture, degradation, rust, etc... but the airsoft ammo never came to mind.

+1 on that idea, I've got a couple of filled shot bags that make good rests. Also have a store bought bag made by Caldwell that works good too.
