For the life of me I still don't understand how it's all not price gouging. I've heard the argument "Stations charge more instantly for the gas the've already bought because they have to replce that fuel" among others :blah: but if that is the case, why are the prices so damn slow in coming back down? I'll tell you why- GREED. :P

I heard that this was all done by the Haslams so they could raise some money to buy out Fulmer's contract after Saturday.

Why would anyone want Fulmer gone? He is a good coach in a league with great coaches. Who do you want to replace him?

uh go Bulldogs and to stay on topic I do think it is all about greed, my dad lives in Michigan and gas their has been 20 to 30 cents higher there than here, I was talking to him and he said gas was around $3.85 or so a gallon and when I told him what they were here he laughed and said you all are being ripped of. Also Michigan Governor got on TV and told them the $5.00 dollar price on gas was a rumor why didn't our Governor do the same and she also said that if the gas stations where price gouging they would be prosecuted. It's all bull****!!!

From what a friend of mine, who owns/operates several small gas station/c-stores in the area, told me a couple of years ago, in the wake of the "Katrina gas price madness" that most independent operators have to increase their gas prices to keep in line with "the big boys" so they won't run out of gas (which is more of an item used to get customers into their stores) and therefore lose the profits from sales of other goods such as Cokes and hotdogs and the random Subway sammich.

It makes sense, but when you've got 2 Pilot stations in 1 block, and 1 at every exit for about 100 miles it sure screws up the whole deal for everyone.

And yet nobody has said a thing about Jim Haslam's "closed door" "press conference" with only the "Media Managers" (ie: the bosses, the big wigs, the chiefs, the Rotary Club pals, or his Cherokee CC Golfing buddies, if you will) of the local "media" and none of the "reporters." I hope someone looks deeper into that, but I know it will be swept under the rug and forgotten.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen gas station owners pull up to work in their Ferraris. Clearly, they're getting rich off us!
