Never knew the differences were so large , for example some .45 ACP .....

Liberty Ammo Civil Defense +P

Weight 78 Grain
Velocity > 1900 FPS
Kenetic Energy > 600 FPE

Hornady Critical Duty +P ( Lead )

That liberty ammo has some crazy specs. Id be interested in seeing some terminal performance specs on it. Also ive never heard of that brand.

I used to be anti lead free simply because i hate all this pro environment bs, whenever i hear someone talk about it i tell them i celebrate earth day by burning a few old tires.

But, for lead free ammo look into the new Barnes TAC-XPD loads for .380, 9mm, .40, and .45. Perfect expansion everytime, great penetration and 99-100% weight retention.

. 45ACP
185gr. 1000fps

I just got an email from Midway advertising this very ammo, but in 9mm. Think I'll call and check the pricing, as their ad said too low to mention.

EDIT...Ok, I just checked this is 50 grain, lead free. +P, nickel plated brass case. 20 rounds are 18.99 plus Midway shipping.

Not exactly range ammo.

It is all about Knock Out Power

Caliber in diameter
times
bullet weight in grains
times
velocity
divided by
7000

.44 Magnum 240 gr. slug at 1400 fps : .430 X 240 X 1400
divided by 7000 = 20.6 Knock Out (KO)
.270 Winchester 130 gr. slug at 3100 fps : .277 X 130 X
3100 divided by 7000 = 15.9 KO
