what is the big difference between a ak47 and a ak74? I heard a 74 has a few updated features like the gas block and a different support for the barrel but is it as good as a 47 or better? i'm looking at a ak74 in .223. i was wondering if the ak can feed the .223 very well, have heard they may have trouble feeding a small round like that. any ideas or comment on this? will ak-47 mags and other acc. fit it? thanks!

An AK-74 is basically the same thing as an AKM, in 5.45x39mm, with the improvements you noted. The AKM was an updated version of the AK-47. .223 AKs go by another designation (AK-101, I believe) not AK-74... they are all 5.45x39.

Magazines for 5.45, .223, and 7.62 AKs are all different for sure, are not interchangeable, and probably all fit different magwells, too.
