Hi, folks, I'm David Butts. I live in Tupelo and I'm an attorney. I'm an avid firearms enthusiast and shoot as much as have time for (and money for ammo). I'm a Deputy Director of the MS Oath Keepers and a member of the NRA. I served in the MS National Guard in the 108th Armored Cavalry and the 155th Armored Brigade and was honorably discharged in 1982. I recently had the privilege of representing over 1,000 Mississippians in filing a brief with the MS Supreme Court in support of our House Bill 2, which clarified the meaning of "concealed weapon" under MS law and which was upheld by the Court. MS is now an "open carry" state. I am currently involved in several lawsuits for citizens dealing with deprivation of their Second Amendment rights. 

 

I have for quite a while pledged to defend FREE OF CHARGE any MS resident, U.S. citizen charged with a felony as a result of the use of a firearm in a case of LEGITIMATE self-defense or defense of others. This pledge has been disseminated throughout gun groups in MS and since I am not far from the TN line, I thought I would extend that offer to TN residents as well (at least within a few hundred miles of Tupelo). I'm affiliated with a law firm in Nashville and a member of that firm and I were speaking today of 2A rights and TN gun laws and that conversation prompted me to find this group.
