Someone raising food for a Rhea County food pantry...pretty smart

I know a lot of people here donate simply based on all the responses to Bersaguys OP. Thought I would throw this up in case anyone works at or runs a food pantry or can add to it to help raise things, like food or clothes or something other than cash for some local organization.

This is on FB but I am sure it would work about anywhere, Topix, Forums etc.

They asked people to post items that they have just laying around or no longer need and do not intend to sell or anything for that matter, the bidding is in food for the Pantry.

So far some examples.

Box of 9mm Tula is up to $21 worth of any food needed.

2 - 40 year old Pepsi Tweety Bird and Porky Pig glasses is up to 2 packs of Squeeze it Drinks

An old Vac and Steam Cleaner is up to 4 1/2 pounds of meat

And old Dirt Devil is up to 14 cans of vegetables

A food proccesor is up to 20 jars of baby food.

A crayola crayon set is up to 20 pounds of potatoes, 2 bags of noodles and 3 cans of tuna.

Based on the comments, the people clearly do not mind getting rid of some unwanted or unneeded items and the other people like the idea of bidding with food for a charity.

As mentioned, just thought I would pass that on as someone or someone may know someone else that might be looking for a way to raise food for a pantry or something along those lines.

Great idea but really? Someone has a box of 9mm lying around that they don't want? Is this 2005 again?

I think it's a great idea but how does it work as far as locations. Will there be several locations listed across the state where people can put the Items up to bid on and when a bidder wins can go to a local place to swap the articles. I think its a great idea for sure...............
