BLOUNTVILLE  â€” A Kingsport man arrested for including a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage at Tri-Cities Regional Airport says the incident was an honest accident, adding that he’s a frequent traveler in and out of multiple airports.

“The firearm was in a backpack and it was accidentally left there,” Christopher Scott Osborne, 40, told the Times-News. “I forgot it was there.”

........The TSA also noted in a press release that the same weapon was discovered in Osborne’s carry-on luggage in February 2009 at TCRA. In both that incident and Tuesday’s, he was flying to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

I know the guy, and it was an honest mistake. With his job he can be called up in a moments notice to travel. He constantly bounces between his truck, a rental car, and a plane. With his schedule it could easily happen. Tsa did their job and kept it off the plane. I wish it could end at that. He's a good guy and a good father, so I hope they go easy on him.

it takes an extra 2 minutes to check a firearm going a suitcase w the counter agent.........u can always dump your ammo if you don't have the factory box.......2nd time....yikes. its pretty easy to keep prefilled dec cards on hand to just fill in the date to make it go even faster.....maybe a nice guy but lawyers fees and fines alone should be a deterrent.. ( w all respect to our local abogados)

First time, sure, but second time? Sounds like he needs a little fear put into him so he doesn't do it a third time.
