Dec. 2012 I heard of a deal Cabela's had on 223 ammo. I called and ordered 1600 rounds, no problem right. Wrong. They started sending me emails stating "sold out" "backordered". As months past they called every once in a while asking if I still wanted the ammo, that they had no time frame for it to be in. They offered other things like dry boxes and so on. I always told them no I will wait. Well I got a call saying the order was in and would be shipped. IT SHOWED UP TODAY!! 13 months later. At the advertised price of 37cents. Yeeehaa. Heck ya. I've noticed that .223 and 5.56 actually seems to be coming down in price and up in availability. My favorite ammo website has it in stock for .38 a round. SGammo.com

I've had luck with Cabela's when they offer it on their website but it is out of stock go ahead and place the order.  If and when they get it in, which can be several months later, they will send you an email and ask if you still want it.  Thing is they don't charge your card until they fill the order.  I scored 1000 rounds or M-22 for $60 back in the summer this way.  It took a few months but I had no other prospects at that price.
