Yep, building one of those with a big ass sledge hammer on it for forge work. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

As someone who split a winters worth of wood by hand I can say that this thing is amazing.  Looks much quicker than even a really good hydraulic splitter.

Looks much easier than swinging an 8lb maul. But I'd get cold running that! I depend on effort and physical movement to stay warm!

My dad made a manual log splitter, he called it "my son"

Yep, I have the same model.

 

Lets see him split some green bodock or locust with thing. Lol!

When I first opened this thread, I expected to see one of those hand pump hydraulic splitters. 

 

The one in the video is essentially a treadle hammer, without the foot linkage and a permanent wedge. It's not a bad idea.

After 25 years in construction and before the advent of the pneumatic nail gun, I've about worn my rotator cuffs out. No "Beast" for me.
