Anyone know the "REAL" conditions at Lovell Field?

Daughter has to fly out today at 2:30 to Atlanta on a connecting flight. Been trying to keep up most of the night. Everything was on time then at 6:10 this morning all flights from Chattanooga to Atlanta vanished off flight tracker. Called the Airport and cannot get a human of course, voice said they have major flight disruptions due to weather. Yet Delta and FAA Tracker both show the flights to Atlanta on time.

If anyone here happens to work there and knows the status, would appreciate hearing it so I dont have to drive her to Chattanooga for nothing. Yesterday the FAA recommended just going ahead and rescheduling your flight, but we fly quite a bit and have been through that rigamarole more than once.

Its bitter cold but there is about 0.000000000001 inches of ice and snow here (I am within about 5 min of the airport).

However they predicted snow and ice, so maybe the flight schedules were in limbo for a while?

I do not know anything about the actual flights but I see nothing *at this moment* that would prevent them.

Airlines cancel flights so they don't have to pay the delay fines imposed on them a few years ago.

Major airports except EWR can usually close, sweep/plow a runway in approx. 45 minutes. That

means multiple runway airports normally continue operations using 1 rwy while plowing the other.

However, Chattanooga looks pretty good except for some wind.

Here's the current weather:

The visibility to clear and a million as the ceiling is 25,000 ft, the temp is 17F, it's windy with winds out of the north at guesting to 28 mph.it snowed for approx 1/2 hour then

stopped and you might have some light snow for another hour or so.  A note about the winds...the winds are just about down

the runway with almost no crosswind component.

There are no active notams reporting any lousy runway conditions so it looks ok to go. The light snow they had probably blew across the

runway due to the winds.

Well we went to the Airport, Flight Tracker and Delta had the Flight leaving on time, went through security, got on the plane and.......some sort of engine trouble., We were texting and the passengers were told they would be taking off in 15 minutes, at the exact same time Flight Tracker had the Flight cancelled and rescheduled for tomorrow at the same time, texted her back and told her I was going to wait to see if they had them debark, 30 seconds later they were debarking. Headed back to the Airport, got there and she messaged me they were getting her on a Flight to New Orleans instead of Atlanta. Waited this time to make sure she got in the air. Got on the plane, overnight, water had got in the engines and they were froze up, scratch that one. Hopefully she can get out tomorrow. Has a meeting to go to.

Supposed to be colder tomorrow than today so who knows. At least it wasn't like the wife and I in September '11, 6 trips to the Airport, took 10 days to get out of Baltimore (Driving back and forth from Gettysburg and York to Baltimore). Weather from Tropical Storm Lee caused so many problems we had every flight cancelled over two weeks, and never got word until we got to the Airport each time.

WHat does that mean?

Airlines have cancelled all over the country due to various reasons like frozen fuel, unable to make connections at other locations.

Lovell Field might not be the problem.
