Super crappy blackberry picture. But that's a Mega nickel boron billet receiver set. took 7 months just to get it from them. I was assembling it there and got excited so I took a picture quick. The rail needed to be installed (modified to fit) before I could finish it.

finally got my BCG on Wednesday. Checked the headspace and threw it together wed night and shot it yesterday. I took it out yesterday to do a barrel break-in, tune the gas block and zero with cheap Rem core-lokt 308 ammo. I shot 15 rounds and put the last 4 in a 7/8" hole at 100 yards. Pretty excited about that. Either the barrel really likes that ammo or its a sign of good things to come when I start reloading my own.

One thing I didn't care for was the Mega charging handle, I ordered a mod4  BCM gunfighter CH...

mine weighed in at 10.75 lbs unloaded w/scope (hunting weight)

unloaded w/bipod it weighs 11.4 lbs (range weight)

My goal weight without optics was 10 lbs and it weighed a hair over 9.016 lbs.

I have only shot box ammo so far, it didn't seem to like PMC, AE and PPU lower grain(145-150gr) as much as rem core-lokt 180gr SP and Rem match 168gr which I shot sub MOA with both.

The receivers are compatible nearly every AR part/mod on the market. For the  MATEN(308/7.62x51), both the DPMS platform and AR-10 platform parts are compatible. Just make sure your bolt matches the barrel whether its DPMS style or AR-10 style chamber. The MATEN lower receiver is also compatible with many AR-15 parts. Just do a little research on a particular part you may want and you shouldn't run into any issues.

took me 4 months to build mine but the last 2 months of that was just waiting for a particular bolt carrier group to get in stock.

Mega machine makes some extremely good quality stuff. Pretty innovative as well. Ambi built in controls. Built in set screw to combat receiver rattle. Their billet stuff is freakin nice. Which usually has all that extra stuff on it. No roll pin for the bolt catch. It's a set screw. It's the little things that make the difference.

Like said above. You can use all types of 308 parts. That's in a category all by itself. And using an ar15 trigger in a 308 lower makes for endless options. Compared to let's say an armalite. Also the lowers take all the mags out there. Edited by 173rdABN

Yup, you can put a little 'you' in every part with all the options. Its a great way to fully customize your AR(caliber of choice) to best suit your particular needs and style. ;)

We should include detailed range reports with this thread. Next time I go out I'll take some photos of my groups and try another kind of ammo.

I know someone in spring hill that you can get one  :)

It better not be the spring hill armory. I would love to shop there but I will drive the extra distance to north side gun shop. And they are freaking awesome. And they also approved of my tactical/compact dachshund :pleased:
