I need a simple answer.....

My brother in law has taken up an interest in reloading (about time) and asked me a question I am having problems answering. Question is "What is the difference between copper plated bullets and copper coated bullets?"   I thought it was that plated bullets have the lead exposed at the bottom and CC are completely covered? After over thinking and looking at various package descriptions...I'm really not sure anymore....help!

Plated also are 100% covered. They don't expose the bottom.

Jacketed can cover entire bullet including base also, eh?. Sometimes called FMJE (Full Metal Jacket Encapsulated) or MC (Metal Cased) depending on manufacturer.

Yep, OS, especially in rifle rounds.

Guess the simple answer asked by the poster isn't entirely simple, but a lot of us "reply'ers" sure are!

Speer Lawman call them TMJ (total metal jacket) meaning the same.  But DaveTN essentially answered the question.
