Scopes for hunting squirrel

What is a good reliable brand of scope for hunting squirrels with a rifle in .22LR ? I want one that is durable and reliable and not much over $100 . I want to put it on my Marlin bolt-action .22 .I had one a time ago but the darn cross-hairs came loose and it was just a mess.  Any help is appreciated .

Give them squirrels a chance, use open sights.  Seriously, this is the best way to learn.  Aim for the temple.

Here is that leapers. Adjustable parallax from 3 yds to infinity. Red or green lit reticle, comes with decent qd rings. I had one on my AR for awhile and it performed very well. http://m.tactical-store.com/ts-lp-rs-scp-m392aolwq.html Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Yep. An AO scope will work too. You just don't need one that's fixed at 100 yards. I have AO scopes on my 10-22 and my 17 HMR.

EDIT: And BTW, it ain't just about parallax either. Center fire scopes (fixed parallax) tend to be out of focus at closer ranges where a .22 shoots the flattest.

Honestly, use iron sights. More fun easier to acquire targets and will make you a crack shot in no time. If you are hunting for food more than sport get a good long barrel shot gun. Otherwise good iron sights. I have 2 22lr guns one with scope for target and one for squirrels with iron sights. A lot more fun. Cool information guys . I have never shot my Marlin since I bought it so I may try it today with iron sights and see what happens. It may surprise me . I think the furthest I'd be shooting at squrrils if I do get a scope will be around 100-150 feet .

Don't laugh, but I use the simmons pro diamond 4x. It's a shotgun scope with the diamond shape surrounding the crosshair. Supposed to fit a turkeys head at 40 yds or some such nonsense.  Anyways, it works fine for me.

Tasco Varmint. Killed ALOT of squirrels with this scope on my cz 452 American. Owned it and shot it for 5 years or so now. Zero issues. I used it for three seasons of smallbore silhouette, making constant elevation adjustments and shooting into the AA class, still going strong.

I used a variable power Simmons for a while, but here recently, I've used a fixed power 4x32 tasco and love it. It has held zero well and is clear as a bell. I know some people like to drop money on the latest and greatest stuff, but I am happy to make do with the stuff that uses technology that would have been top notch 15-20 yrs ago for a fraction of the price. I guess what I'm saying is that if you're looking for a scope to knock around in the woods and shoot some tree rats at 20-30 yards, I doubt you will appreciate much difference in a decent quality/decent reviews $40-50 scope verses a better name $100-120 scope.

Academy sells the BSA Sweet 22, specifically designed for the 22. 3-9X40. Has 3 separate turrets for different weight bullets. Allows you to compensate for bullet drop out to 175 meters...assuming a 50 yard zero. Only $57. No, its not a nikon....but it is the best 22 scope for under $100. IMO.
