Programmable credit cards

Ran across this the other day and figured I would share, the idea and technology behind it is pretty cool... Especially the part about being able to disable the credit card if it goes out of bluetooth range of your cellphone.  That would save a world of headaches if your wallet gets stolen.

I got mine preordered just to check this thing out when they're released.

Yea till someone figures out how to hack it, and they will.

It doesn't transmit any card data wirelessly.  Hacking it (or more specifically, bluejacking it) would be completely useless.

Also, they won't be selling them until the PCI-DSS certification comes down, and if they pass that, they are 100% legit to go without question.  They won't get that certification if it's any more risky than a regular card

I wish someone would have done this a few years ago. As it stands, you'll be able to use it for about a year. When the EMV standard goes into effect in January 2015, merchants are finally going to move away from mag stripe technology, as the standard makes them fully liable for losses.

Aww just bear with 'em folks! They've got the perfect solution. All your data on one chip. No more lost cards. One small little chip conveniently implants in your hand or forehead, at no cost to you! Won't it be great?
No more having to actually pay for whst you want with silly cash.
Lol!

They will never implant me or mark me either, it's bad enough I gotta have a id card just to prove who I am. We are getting closer and closer to the end times.

LMAO at "the mark"...you know it kinda throws the whole thing off when everyone's mark would be different (ie cc number) and "the mark" is one name or number of a name.

Anyway, that is a cool tech. I don't think I will pre order but would like to know what comes of it. Might get one 6-12 months after they come out. Let the bugs get worked out and all.

I don't use credit cards, so no help. It seems neat though, but I don't like my info out there more than it is.

I for one do not need another convenience to use a CC, and for that matter my debit card.  I finally got out of the CC rut several years ago, but it creeps up every now and then.  The Great Gun attack of 2013 really stressed my discipline!   The debit card is just like poker chips.  If you are a poker player you know what I am talking about.

We pay it off monthly and we rack up around 100,000 points a year on it so it ends up costing us zero in interest and we get around 7 or 8 round trip flights for 100% free by using the card instead of cash.

southwest chase card is awesome
