Golf Balled BCG?

Recommended Posts

Just watching some random videos, came upon this one. Anyone ever hear about golf balled bolt carrier groups? (At 22:25)

Seems legit, but almost over the top. Any comments or experience on this?

A gimmick that is not needed.

Almost $100 on top of a chrome or nickel plated one. I'd almost say it isn't worth the weight reduction. Plus I imagine it would take longer to clean.

Why reduce the weight of the carrier? I've always used and M16 carrier for the ADDED weight. Any weight adjustment in the recoil system can be done at the buffer.

More BS gimmicks.

And the need to go to a heavier or lighter buffer can be eliminated with an adjustable gas block. Most guns are over gassed as it is so running an adjustable gas block should be the first upgrade of any AR.

Spike's has a golfballed carrier that they've sold the hell out of (apparently).  I've never used one but it's along the same idea of the JP low mass.  Generally designed for specific uses or gaming guns.

ETA:  I see that it's already been covered.
