Damn idiots panicking is causing fuel prices to jump, not the storm. The refineries that are closing for Ike went un-harmed in 05.

Its crazy that people are rushing in mass quantiles to fill up to keep from paying to much, whilst their fillings are causing it to rise!

I passed a station on the way to Prentice Cooper this evening, and on my way back home about two hours later their prices shot up .16 cents.

Now what pisses me off is I was nearing empty on my way up Suck Creek Mtn.Now I am on E,but no way I'm sitting in line to save a couple bucks :D

I'm taking the bike out to Hero-Gear tomorrow afternoon to take advantage of Joe's sale. Sadly, that means I'll have to tank up probably once on the way out there. I hope there ain't a line. Waiting in line on a bike is infinitely more annoying than doing it in a car. I'll have to look for some stupid rural station or something.

Its true.

I ran out to check about midnight after reading this.I was on E and planning on filling up tomorrow. In Harriman it went up .32 in 3 hours this afternoon.Harriman is about .25 higher than in Kingston so I went over there. The Exxon was out of reg,Rocky top had a limit of 35.00 at 4.00 a gallon  so I went back to the exxon and filled up with mid grade. The guy there said the owners called them and said it would be 5.00 to 6.00 per gallon tomorrow. The woman at the Rocky top said they would only let them sell 35.00 per person so they would not run out as they were told they may not get another delivery.

Only the news here is saying this stuff. News in Huntsville said there would not be a price increase. National news just now said that oil was still going down and there shouldn't be a price spike.

I have thought that the news in Chatt has been crappy and non-professional since we moved here, and this will put it over the top. We drove in from Huntsville tonight and it was weird...some towns all gas stations had massive lines...next town no one was freakin out...probably was Bubba on the street corner.

As we were driving home my wife started freakin out because the blazer was running low and she thought we wouldn't make it home. I had to remind her that I had a small arsenal in the back of the blazer and would get gas one way or another lol

People acting like a bunch of crackheads over gas!

Hey now, there's no reason to go denigrating crackheads like that.

Glad I filled up this morning... By the time I need to fill up again this will either have passed, or there will be bigger issues to deal with.

Krystals sounds pretty good... May take a walk tomorrow.

Still waiting on orders; if I don't have any by this afternoon I'm headed home for the weekend. Four tanks from here to home and back. Don't need any problems like this!

Filled up last night @3.59 put 93 bucks in the tank. I work a quad shift so I only work 3 or 4 days a week so that helps save on gas a little.

Headline in Knoxville paper this morning said Knoxville is out of gas. (Yes I still read the newspaper). Brings back the good old days. What next Carter (Obama) and a TP shortage.

I filled up yesterday, not because of this thread or long lines or price gouging, I was empty. Haven't heard anything about this until this morning.

Channel 2 Nashville reports the price of gas is up .03 per gallon!

OMG! I better rush out and start filling 5gal cans!!!!

*I had just filled my primary and aux fuel tanks on Wed. so I have 75 gallons of #2 Diesel in reserve.

Saw an interview with a energy "expert" last night on the news and his explaination for what is happening is interesting. He said that with several refineries having to shut down in South Texas due to the hurricane, nearly one fourth of our rifining capacity is now off line. So even though the price of crude oil has dropped, there is going to be a temporary shortage of gasoline due to lack of gasoline production.

This is the same exact thing that happened right after Katrina hit. Gas jumped up a stupid amount in one day because the "news" drove up the demand. Two days later it was right back to normal prices.

OMG WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!!!!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!11111?1?

Meh. I'll just ride the bike and fill up at that middle of nowhere gas station between I24 and Winchester.

Thank goodness for small town businesses.

Maybe we should drill in other places.

Hmm, up one penny in Knoxville this morning according to Channel 10. Glad I didn't sit in those huge lines across town last night.
