Federal .45 Warning

I was just admiring a 100 round value pack of Federal Champion .45 ammo I bought from WalMart the other day.  On the back is the following warning:

 

"DO NOT USE IN FIREARMS WITH PORTED BARRELS OR PORTED RECOIL COMPENSATORS".

 

What's that all about?

Champion ammo has a thinner layer of plating. The plating can peel off and come out of the ports, possibly striking someone in the eye.

Interesting post John. I never pay that much attention to the writing on the boxes. 

 

Side note, a few months ago I was bitching about the price of WWB .45 being $40.xx at Wal-Mart. It's now $43.xx.   

 

I just left my local store. They had at least 25 of the 100 round boxes of .45 and 15 or so 420 round ammo cans of 5.56. The price on those has gone up to $199

 

Also- they have several 1,200 round ammo cans of 9mm for a disgusting price of $499.

 

The ammo situation seems to be improving- .22lr are still tough to find it seems.

Yeah, they had some of that in the Hermitage Wal-mart.  I don't get it.  Who in their right mind would buy that?  That's $20/box!

So if you have a ported barrel , or a compensated extended barrel , what barrel is safe to look over the end of while firing ? :stalk: 

 

The answer must be NONE OF THE ABOVE ?
