Very nice! I just got mine from CMP last week. New wood and barrel. 1.5 million serial number. Took four or five months but it was worth it. Happy shooting :)

Very nice...I considered getting one of those, but decided to order a couple of regular SA Service Grades and hope I get lucky. :x:

To be honest I went there thinking they had Service Grades on the rack, but not so. They have the Services Grades available, but only thru the mail in program. So after driving 4 hours to Anniston I was not leaving without an M1. So I got the SGS instead. I am very pleased with the decision.

I wanted to do the same thing, but after following the forums on the CMP website, I realized I'd just be wasting my time unless I wanted to get one of the Specials.  I may wish I had done that in the end, but I'm still hopeful I'll end up with a couple of nice service grade rifles when they finally arrive. :x:

You will be pleased I am sure. I intend on in the near future doing as you did to get a Service Grade. In the mean time I am looking for a correct grade HRA stock for this one. That is all I need to have a complete collector grade.

I got one of the Specials last spring and I'm hoping to get service grade next year.

Now that I look at the picture again, that thang is UGLY. Along with that Remington 19 'leven.  To save yourself the disgrace of being seen with them at the range, send them to me. I will sacrifice myself for another Garand and 1911.
