I can see where this is going. Couple of years ago some Virginia Scholar brought up Lee's memorial at West Point (He didnt know if it was R.E. or Fitzhugh) but suggested the traitors names be removed.

So if they can get the "Traitors" portraits removed from the Army War College, how long before all mention of Confederate leaders are removed from the Service Academies. Maybe they need to rename Washington and Lee University as well as Fort Hood, Fort Polk, Fort Benning, Fort Lee, Fort Gordon, Fort Bragg, Fort Pickett, Fort A.P. Hill, Camp Beauregard,

Last month the New York Times published an article called "Misplaced Valor" and quoting Ken Burn's as stating he wondered why all of these places were named after Confederate Traitors when in fact (And supposedly this came from Burns) Lee killed more Americans than Tojo and Hitler combined.

I don't recall Burns stating that, what I recall Burns saying was in reference to the number of killed on both sides. Just as Shelby Foote pointed out that "It isn't THE greatest war, it is over romanticized, there is nothing romantic about what went on during the Civil War, but we remember it, because everyone involved were AMERICANS, and families split apart and took both sides, so we have a National Conscious concerning the Civil War, and for us, IT IS OUR greatest war because we all have a piece of it". (Or words to that effect).

I read this the other day and just shook my Southern, descendant of Confederate Soldiers head.  Robt. E. Lee was a highly respected graduate of West Point with an excellent service record in the US Army, known and obviously still respected as a general and tactictian.  Jackson, another Point grad is/was highly regarded as well.

Everything was just fine until some PC busybody noticed and started making waves.

The political correctness has run beyond amok in the country to the point of trying (doing, actually) to erase history.  It make me sick.

Lee was also Superintendent of West Point. . Many of the man Lee fought against, he taught at West Point. To remove any of these great man from the war college would be a disgrace. After the War Between the States, these men made amends with their Union counter parts. Too bad after 150 years members of this generation can't do the same.

I guess they also need to remove all the American soldiers and JFK from Lee's property if he's a traitor. I felt really bad when I found out how Arlington National Cemetery came to be.

I agree.  It's tainted land.

Does anyone have the balls to say that to the ninnies visiting the War College who don't like the pictures they see?

Lee was the best guy out there, and he was an American, no? He also graduated 2nd in his class at West Point if I remember correctly. IMO, he was twice the general Ulysses S. Drunkard was too.

The commies (progressives) are rewriting history to fit their view on what should have happened.

In 50 or so years people will not know what happened.

Elections mean things and they release outcomes...

... The military-political enterprize (...there is one, you know...) is a microcosm of the US political spectrum and is made up of citizens... It is, in fact, made up of both left and right wing apparatchiks; just like the polititical zealots in other fields... Every civilian and uniformed apparatchik who serves in the military-political enterprize is not a "politically neutral" operative... They are, in fact, political operatives with political goals; and they are in the business of currying favor from their masters as well as engaging in the more noble aspects of military service...

The Nobama election (...and re-election...) loosed the left wing of this group with a vengeance and zeal not seen in my years of watchin politics; and they are goin about doin their work in an efficient manner; to the point of disregarding everything important for the sake of re-writing history and building a glorious new socialist narrative...

This country was founded on the proposition that the military should be "politically neutral" and subject to "civilian control"...It is, in fact, subject to "civilian control"... That "civilian control" is bringing the outcomes we are discussing now... It never wuz "politically neutral"...

The fix for this "problem" is one of two things; the first, vote the present bunch out (...which is very likely in the next couple of years...); the second is to do away with the standing army; which i think aint a bad idea, and resurrect the old militia...

Students of history will remember that there was a pitched battle between the founding fathers RE: "the standing army" thing... They knew then that there was a great possibility for abuse... The "abuse" thing depends on which side of the political spectrum ya are on... Right now, the constitutional, historical, uniquely american side that most of us real people are on is suffering at the hands of those on the glorious socialist utopian politically correct side...

This is about as stupid as stupid can be, I could careless if they fought the Yankees or Rebels. They are American Generals that served their country. Sure it was a rough time in our history, but they stood up for what they believed in and made us a stronger nation because of it.. If some dumbass that doesn't understand history wants to change it, tell them to ETADIK and go pound sand..

All this BS, it's do to ignorance, from failure to read the historical facts.. If they might as well take down Sherman's Picture as well for torching Atlanta out of spite.
