Thanks for the comments!

The AR-15 is a slim gun, so it always frustrated me that most of the hand guards and quad rails out there had such a large diameter, just wasn't comfortable to me. That's one of the reasons I went with the alpha rail.  It does heat up a little faster than some others but I'm happy with it so far.

As far as the parts list...

I got the upper on sale at Primary Arms, it's a 16" ATI with 9" Troy Alpha rail. I never heard of the company, and there isn't much information out there.  Ideally I would have done a BCM build, but it was a good price and I didn't want to wait another year gathering parts.  The upper had everything including BCG so I snagged it.

Lower is a T-15 with your standard M4 stock and Magpul trigger guard.

The optic is a Primary Arms micro red dot (the one they had on special black friday) and 3x Long Eye Relief Magnifier with flip to side mount. BUIS are magpul.

I prefer mid length but so far I'm happy with it's simplicity and slimness.  I'm eventually going to replace the optic with a real aimpoint micro, and plan on changing the grip and stock in the future as well.  I have been thinking about weapon lights but not sure if I'll add one to this build.

R_Bert, which Troy rail do you have in mind?

I have the TRX308 13.8" coming in today. Not sure what the clearance difference is between that and the AR-15 version is, if there is one at all.

Anyway, I was just reading the reviews at midwayusa and a couple guys gave the syrac ordnance .750 adj block(non clamp-on) a 5 star rating saying that it fits under their 12,5" and 13.8" TRX rails for their 308s.

I had the same question and just found that today. I just don't know if I should get the clamp-on or non clamp-on for the RA ultramatch barrel

in regards to the OP, that's a nice looking rifle!

Apologies to OP for sort of hi-jack.

I am interested in the Troy Alpha and a similar look as OP (may have a Magpul CTR or a Ace Skeleton on mine).

I saw the Syriac blocks, and they are high on my list, especially if they will fit under the Alpha.

Building a .204 Ruger in what I guess is mid-length or carbine.  Looking for 18"-20" heavy bbl (will have a .936 block) and the hand guard to cover as much bbl length as possible.  I am hoping that I will be able to access/adjust the gas block through the side of the rail.
