Just checked the Academy website. They are $529. After taxes and background check, you'll be closer to $600. If you can wait a few days, it would be hard to beat Bud's. They offer free shipping. After transfer and background, you should be able to walk away about $100 cheaper.

Here is the thing, the used market is flooded with used M&P 40's, even a few compacts, for under $400 OTD. Atlanta PD got rid of their M&Ps(2500~) and a few others did as well to include a large department in Ohio. I understand wanting a new one but if you wanted to get rid of it you would be stuck with it.

I bought mine through Gallery of Guns via the Gun Genie. I think I paid ~$530 new (including transfer fees, background check, etc). However, I added an Apex FSS (polymer) and night sights later.

No...... i got it at tennessee gun country  at  clarksville gun and archer there was a 4.25 barreled version for 500 before taxes went to gun country 489 for a full sized GI after taxes and backround so i think i did pretty well for my first 1911 :)

Tn Gun Country ROCKS   . The owner is a good friend of mine and he runs a great shop. Plus the military/LEO discount is awesome .

Some people give them bad reviews but the real deal is that he and his people are just good people. I have known him since 2007 and he has always done great towards me and my friends. He is very police and military friendly too . Just a nice gun shop period  :pleased:
