Berger 22 Cal 90 grain?

I purchased some second hand reloading supplies awhile back and finally went through it today and came across a box of Berger 22 Cal 90 grain BT Target Long Range bullets. Anyone out there loading these? If so what for 223, 22/250? Are they any good?

Those are great bullets for long range if you have a gun that will handle it. They'll work in .223 or 22/250. Need a pretty fast barrel twist. Needless to say, loaded rounds won't fit in an AR magazine.

Have you tried them before? Just curious as I haven't found anyone local that has ever tried them.

I have 80 grain Bergers. They're real specialized long range target bullets. If you don't shoot long range, they're probaby useless. I don't think my gun will handle the 90's

That's what I thought. Do you know any of the "more active" TGO members that could use something like these? My average shooting is 300 yards or less so I'm not really a "long range" shooter.

I don't. My gun is an 8 twist, and can't use them. I haven't gotten around to loading the 80's yet.

I would but I'd rather give them to a member such as yourselves. Someone who actually contributes not just someone who only uses the classifieds and never reads posts like this.

It's just such a weird bird. My friend Froggy was talking about building a 90 grain gun a couple of years ago. Haven't heard from him since. Hope it didn't do him in :)

Most I have loaded is 77gr. I would love to load some subsonics for a little suppressor work. I have my load I developed with the 77s using cotton wad packing, but man, that 90gr is so long I bet you wouldn't even need to pack it...

So...is that an "I'll take 'em"?

If your offering I would love them! Be great to see what they can do! A friend has a place to shoot 1400 yards in his back yard, so I can really stretch these things to their max, and make a couple subsonic rounds for the suppressor. :)

I don't think Berger makes these anymore. They don't list them on their website. I use the 90 grn VLD and for target shooting it works very well out to 1000 yards. (if you have a barrel designed to use them) I've heard the the BTLR like you have works great out to 600 but after that it looses too much velocity. They will need to be loaded long. I don't believe they can be loaded to mag length because the bearing surface would be below the neck.
