Anyone go to this show? If not...

You MIssed One Hellofa Show!!

It was unbelievable. Setzer's guitar playing is absolutely amazing.

And the opening act, the Firebirds are one of the highest energy shows I've seen in years.

Actually thinking of checking the box office to see if tickets are still available and going back to tomorrow night as well.

Man, I wished I coulda seen that. I love Setzer's playin'. If he had been around in the 50's, he woulda been the Hendrix of the time. He is an awesome player.

Did they do Mystery Train, saw Setzer live in Germany and the only song I REALLY wanted to see live was Mystery Train and I think thats about the only song I really like they didnt do. I like 99% of their music but if the price was for only one live song, for me Mystery Train.

No go on Mystery Train during the show I saw. I was hoping for it as well, but couldn't complain on the set selections as they were great. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite from the show

.

But was absolutely blown away when he launched into the Stray Cats set.

Well...I did embarrass my wife somewhat. Does that count?

That's what husbands are for!

I saw Setzer do a trio set a few years ago in nashvegas during a NAMM convention. Crazy Horse grille perhaps? Memory is failing.

His bass player was very entertaining with his doghouse bass. Jumping around, playing the big old doghouse like a guitar, behind his head, etc. Does that guy always play with Setzer?

I don't know if it was the same guy, but I'm assuming it was. I think, but am not sure, that the same bass man and drummer from the orginal Stray Cats are still with Setzer.

There was a segment with the bassist from Firebirds, the opening act, and the orchestra bassist in a sort of "dueling bass" set that had them both doing antics like standing on the sides of their instruments, and swapping hands on the other's bass. It was pretty entertaining.

And Setzer did a similar number with one of the Sax players that wasn't quite as good I thought.

I really wish I had gone back for the Monday night show as well.

You ever see his drummer get about 10 sounds from a single drum and cymbal? I thought that was pretty amazing, on one of their sets he played nearly the entire set with a single drum a cymbal and no bass. I dont know anything at all about percussion instruments but I thought that was pretty amazing, I started listening to Setzer for one reason, because I heard he played Gretsch and one of his favorite players was Chet Atkins, who is also one of my favorite (Favorite, not one of), players, or was. Setzer doesnt play like Atkins, but he does play Atkins Guitars (One of Setzers is a Country Gentleman and another is a Electromatic), but he definitely sounds like ole Lightning Fingers for those who know who that is.

All three were great performers when I heard em, but didn't recall details.

As best I recall he was playing a Country Gentleman on that gig a few years ago, and I do recall it was a brilliant almost-neon color. Perhaps shiny blue, but could be mistaken.
