no kidding right?? just a short time ago, i wouldn't have thought about wanting to have something like that...i guess after years of hearing my dad talk about being in the mountains and woods he finally rubbed off on me..

That is really nice, what a labor of love. I've seen many old broken down cabins like that in Montana and the Dakotas.

That is cool! I could easily live in that if it wouldn't be so rough on me to keep fire wood goin'. 'Course, the ol'lady might complain a bit but if it had a gin-u-wine down feather bed in it, she might hafta move out.

A house I lived in for 9 years here in Crockett was actually two log homes with a dog trot between them that had been added onto and skinned with them asbestos shingles. Some fella bought the place and is in the process of removin' the logs (just like those in the link) from the place to sell. It's takin' him a while, though. He's just doin' it in his spare time. I was told that the original cabins were probably 150 years old. You can see that some of the logs were cut by axe and some by old hand saws. Kinda cool just to look at how it was built now that everything has been reduced to the core.
