ETHRA and Sevier indoor range

So get this. Been watching the tracking number for my TGO lower. Says it got to SIR yesterday so I called and confirmed today. Then I call ETHRA Public Transit to set up a ride to go get it. Their response was that they "weren't going to be able to set up that ride." When I asked why the lady said that "because it is a gun range and they wont do that." She had even asked if I was going to be carrying a gun on my trip to which I replied "No, just a part". So I ask for the complaints line, Cindy has worked out other things for me before like trips to Sevier county (since I am in Cocke but right on the county line). Cindy just called and told me that they can't transport someone with a weapon and I explained to her what I was doing and she is calling them to "confirm that [I] wont be carrying a firearm". No guarentee of a ride but that is what I was told as of now. My question is this, I go to Wal-Mart quite often, what stops me from purchasing a firearm there? I also have had trips to pawn shops etc.

This is just a rant but feel free to share my story with your reps if you are in the east TN area (their service area). Don't worry I can get a ride for something quick like this using my manual chair but the fact that a state funded operation is trying to deny me a trip that doesn't break any laws because someone over there is apparently anti-gun sucks.

If you're picking up a receiver, technically you are picking up a firearm.  The fact that it's non-functional may or may not be relevant. As for the potential for you to buy a firearm at walmart (et al), I assume that means they could refuse to take you back home with it.  I'd review their policies on the topic before making a stink.

I have, there is nothing to the effect of items that may or may not be carried other than no weapons or open food and drink containers. They are only governed by state law. Can't find anything about transporting parts on the TDOT website. As for a lower being a firearm, would I be arrested for carrying a stripped lower in public, hidden in my back pocket? Well that is technically a CCW violation since I don't have a HCP right? This is just them making yet another excuse for not transporting someone that has to use the lift and taking the time to strap the chair down. I am already in the process of contacting Jeremy Faison, my 11th district state rep and fellow Cosby resident.

There is no way you'd face an intent to go armed charge for carrying a stripped lower :)  You need to make some friends in the gun community in your neck of the woods :)

BTW, if you want to make things interesting...  ask them for a ride to the Smokey Mountain Pet Resort at 1868 Country Meadows Drive, and go next door to the gun range ;)

LoL yeah, they don't like pets either, had to fight with them about my service dog when we went to her first shots. But I guess I made a big enough fuss that they finally called back and set up the ride. Will be picking up my TGO lower Wednesday. :)
