E clip launched into the stratosphere

I'll go pick some spares up tomorrow. What else should I get? I look to lose at least one pivot pin detent. Do the springs jump away as well, or just the detents? Anything else I'll likely lose would be appreciated, as I don't want to go back to the store again over the weekend.

Why didn't they just put a head on the dust cover hinge pin?

I use one of those giant "space" bags to do my assembly in...you know the ones Billy Maze told me that would let me to vacuum pack an elephant into the size of a large shoe box.

Seriously though, for the cost, having 1 or 2 spare springs and detents for all aspects of a lower is never a bad idea. Might even give a reason to start another build.

Learn the box cutter trick. There's no reason to lose a detent. The Spike's kit that I just installed came with a spare.

Much nicer than what I called it.

 

I finally got what you were talking about. Those things are a pain in the butt. I haven't launched one, but tried a few times. I always get them in the notch with needle nose before I try to put any squeeze on. A magnifier helps me

Whelp, got an extra safety selector detent. Better build a new rifle.

When I worked for the forest service we would break our chainsaws down for cleaning all the way to the clutch plate.  The drive socket is held on by an E-clip.  Whe called the "Jesus" clips, cause thats what you yelled when they went flying into oblivion.


In helicopters we called the large nut that held the rotor on the mast the "Jesus nut" because if it came off you were probably going to meet him that day.
