Only thing I would change on that is the sling mounting locations other than that, nice build, parts descriptions?

What do you suggest for the sling?

I don't recall the brand of several parts, but the barrel is a 20" Yankee hill. I believe the flash hider and gas block are Yankee hill as well. The stock is a fixed Magpul MOE. A 15" Midwest Industries handguard, A.R.M. back up sights, a lower parts kit from byedan here on the forum are all I'm sure about. The ambi safety might have been from Rock River Arms, but I'm not sure. The rest are just odd and end parts I picked up here and there along the way.

Of course you know where the upper, lower, and bolt carrier group came from (CMT).

Just what I was about to ask. Not much recoil with that one, huh?

There won't be much recoil anyway. 123 grain pill leaving at 2500 fps. Has more to do with squeezing off long range shots with a 1 lb trigger break. Doesn't take much to yank the gun off the target at 600+ yards. It's a heavy barrel. Looks to be close to a 1" straight profile under the handguard.

That should be a good shooter. Probably a great shooter if you tune the ammo. In case you haven't noticed already, AR's just shoot better than conventional rifles. The line of recoil force is straight into your shoulder, instead of above your shoulder. They ain't pretty, but they work real well.

BTW... I'm not so sure you sling attachment points are in the wrong place. My A2 is slung that way. It's not a go fast gun. Hell, we're not go fast guys :)

LOL! I've tried to like them, but I'm still a lever or bolt action guy at heart. I guess I was born a century or so too late.

I grew up the same way. I spent an afternoon at the range going back and forth between my mini 14 and one of my AR's. Same ammo, same barrel length. The AR was just more comfortable to shoot, strictly because of the geometry. We won't even get into the difference in accuracy :)

The Mini feels better to me, but I'll definitely give the accuracy edge to the AR. A 99 Savage or model 70 Winchester just "feels right" to me however.

I wouldn't know about the Savage 99. I think you own all of them. :)

That is NOT an ugly rifle. I think its very nice looking, you did a good job with the build!

I agree.   It's a nice looking rifle.

Gregintenn, how do you like that MI forearm?    Does it feel "solid" without any flex?

Yeah, it feels like part of the barrel. Having another AR with a full quadrail, I really like the fact it's so thin and light. If I had it to do over, I would buy it again.

I don't think your meant to shoot it as much as bludgeon the enemy to death with it.

I think I prefer to hit them with one of my cheap AR's, or just use this...

It's still windy here, but I couldn't wait any longer. This was with 60 grain Sierra HPs, LC brass, CCI 400 primers, and 25.0 grains of WW748. 5 shots at 100 yards measures .750" center to center. I think this is a good start. :up:I'm not sure I'm much better than that.

Tole ya it was gonna shoot pretty good. Might even do a little better with some load tweaking

Well got my lower put together tonight, well most of it.

Waiting on a ambi selector to come in.

Do not have a buffer tube yet so those rear parts are not in

the lower yet.

Trigger done, bolt catch done, mag release done, selector detent and grip on.

O, and the PIA front take down pin with detent done, the razor blade trick worked.

I no longer have that cherry to brag about.

At least you could have made a Hrothgar. Just think about it. You would have people reading.

I think it was a Double Star, but looks like DPMS parts. I pulled the parts out of another lower. It's a Geissele SSA-E trigger and Hogue grip with a Dolomite grip screw.
