A review of my new hand gun.

America made. :usa:

Picked up a new SR9 Ruger (9mm) from Tennessee Gun Country yesterday, stainless barrel and slide, poly frame.

Got it for a good price. Handled it for a little while and decided to buy it.

I have never owned a Ruger semi auto pistol before.

Grip seemed a little slick at first, it isn't. Controls in correct places for me, ambi safety and magazine release.

I patched the bore then shot 10 17 round magazines thru it. Ammo was all reloads, medium to max, jacketed and plated bullets, 115gr -124gr-125gr-130gr-147gr. Bullets were round nose, flat point and hollow point.

No function problems and it was one of the most accurate out of box handguns I have ever fired.

Its accuracy is as good as my CZ 75D which is very good for me.

The gun ran everything thru it flawlessly and ejected all brass to same general area.

I find the stock sights are good for me. The loaded chamber indicator is large and on top of the slide, I don't like it but it does not interfere with holstering or firing.

Front sight is drift adjustable and the rear has a screw for elevation adjustments also drift adjustable.

Take down is quite abit more complicated than a Glock. Magazines are more expensive than Glocks.

Overall this handgun impressed me especially for the price.

Very happy with this purchase but my wife isn't.

Congratulations on the new purchase. Might I suggest the SR45 next? It is a fabulous piece of Ruger workmanship.

Tell your wife the next one is for her.

Can I suggest an FNX> I have 2 and am looking for a 45 also. They are fine american made handguns with the works. Usually a little more money but well worth it IMO.

Take out that redundant mag disconnect safety and your trigger will be considerably better. Take out the firing pin and it's the little "saddle" that is riding on top of it. SR9's are very good guns at a great price. Ghost makes a trigger bar for the SR9 that is also a great improvement. http://www.ghostinc.com/category/17_ultimate_for_ruger/

I got one when they first came out but nobody made holsters or sights for them at the time so I sold it. Wouldn't mind having another.
