300 wsm?

I'm been really looking at a savage 11 in 300wsm and i have a 30-06 that's been my main hunting rifle for years and I'm looking for a more modern rifle as my is old nothing wrong it i just took one with Fri but I've been think on getting a 300 wsm my only problem with is it goin to stay around like the 300 wm has and only reason i love the short action calibers just need other options on it thanks

I think 300 WSM is here to stay, but it will never be as readily available or cheap as 30-06 or 300WM.  I have one and like it, so I am not saying don't get one, just know what you are getting.  I reload and have plenty of brass since it isn't a gun you go out and shoot a lot for the fun of it.  

 

If you don't reload, I would probably go with a 308 for a short action 30cal rifle.  If all you are doing is shooting deer or smaller, you may consider a .260, but again ammo isn't as readily available.  Although this last go around, 308 wasn't easy to find either.

I can normally find more 300wsm then 308 or 243 i look before i got my 243 i want something Bigger then my 30-06 I'm not I'm going to stop i just want one i dont have worry about like i do my 30-06 it was my very first gun and I'm really protective of and it a m70 Winchester so i want one i don't have worry about getting dirty
