Letter from TDOS

I applied for my carry permit in June, and received a letter this weekend that said:

"We are in receipt of your application for a handgun carry permit. However, your application did not properly update on our system. Therefore, we are requesting that you forward a copy of your application to this office at the above address."

WTF? I guess I have no choice to resubmit, but does anyone have any experience with this response? Will my application be expedited or will it be the same several month wait from the time of the resubmission?

I'll fax my app and call the number tomorrow and post an update here. Major FAIL for TDOS, as far as I'm concerned.

Par for the course, I'm afraid.

Hopefully, if you mail it AND call, they'll expedite it from here on, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

I would suggest FedEx or UPS it so you can track delivery. I sent mine overnight, it was worth 11 bucks to me.

^+1.....they never recieved my husband's paperwork!!! Claimed it may have gotten lost with the other applications that went out that day. He had to fax his application & handgun class certificate copies to TDOS. He got his permit about 2 weeks after that. Only difference is that my husband never recieved any letter....I called them & they told me the problem.

It gets real fun when they lose your school HCP recertification paperwork...ask me how I know!

It all worked out, but it was irritating.

I have a student that has had to resend her paperwork in twice after the initial application. TDOS is a mess right now.

I called to check on mine and they requested that I fax in a copy of the application. They didn't mention anything about the certification, just the yellow form. I faxed it on 9/2/08.

The story I got was that there was a bottleneck in their process for scanning the application forms.

After faxing this in, the lady told me I should get the permit in 2-3 weeks.

We'll see.

Only if he's the catcher instead of the pitcher. I've never heard of a football f-ing a monkey, though. Always the other way around. :D

Hopefully mine's alright. 1-2 more weeks and I'l be golden, get my permit. So they sent you this letter??? Never heard of that before, include your phone number on all subsequent stuff. JMHO.

Got my permit last week, btw. I did call and pester them, and it seemed to move things along. IIRC, others have gotten similar results by calling repeatedly.
