It's sad that in order to advance education one has to give up self defense. Anyone know what kind of penalties he is looking at?

Well he is an adult and gun on school property is a felony according to Tennessee law. He be screwed.

Based on the very short article, this student may have been up to no good. They don't state much of anything other then loaded gun and multiple magazines. I wouldn't say the student that notified police was a rat just someone afraid for their lives, since it is illegal to carry on campus with or without a HCP.

Somebody forgot the first rule of carrying in a non permissive environment. Concealed means concealed.

Without evidence to the contrary, I am going to assume the student was just carrying for self defense without any other ill intent. One gun and two spare mags is less than my daily load out of 2 guns and three spare mags (2 for the primary, 1 for the secondary). If he had a bag full of 10 or 20 mags, that might be a little suspicious but not 2.

I think it has been proven far to many times that gun free zones are the most dangerous areas to be in already and I avoid them if at all possible..............jmho

A buddy of mine used to carry when he went to TTU here, his words, "If you think some ***hole with a vendetta against the campus whore, who slept with his best 'buddy', is gonna get me, you've got another thing coming.". While I don't promote nor endorse the breaking of laws, I wasn't gonna exactly report him either as I somewhat, in a weird way, respected that decision he came to of silently telling big brother to "go #@$% yourself".
