Introducing the new Glock 42

Why carry then? A mag safety is not "perfectly good" in no way, shape or form to me. It very well could be detrimental to my or someone else's life. In the heat of a "need it now" moment, I may not notice my mag has, for some strange reason, disconnected. Why take that chance? Either it will fire when "needed" or it's useless junk. That was just some more Commiefornica/Chicago/New York type stupid idea stuff is what it amounts to.

I like the "42" answer in the comments. This explains everything.

UPDATE

According to some FFL dealers, they have been seeing new Glock models listed in the inventory of distributors, and that Glock plans to unveil a new gun (or guns) at SHOT SHOW in January.

We found the information below here, from forum user shooter521:

I was doing some ordering for the shop this evening, and found that the new models are already in our distributor’s system. eek.png Very little information is available (and no pics or description), but what is there allows us to make some inferences.

They are listed under “handguns,” so no Glock Carbine (big surprise)

One model will be the Glock 41. SKU numbers are PG4130101 and PG4130103, which indicate adjustable sights, and a low-cap and hi-cap version. The Glock 41 is more expensive than any of Glock’s other pistols to date; based on the wholesale cost I’m seeing, street price will be $779.95 at my shop. Given that, my official guess is that the new Glock Model 41 is going to be an optics-ready, competition-oriented pistol to compete with the S&W M&P CORE and FNH-USA FNX-45 Tactical.

The other model will be the Glock 42. SKU number is UI4250201, which indicates US-made, fixed sights and a low-capacity (10 or less) magazine. Wholesale price on this is only slightly above the Gen3 models, so street price should be $539.95. I think this is a new single stack .380 or 9mm of some sort.

Original Article

Is it a rumor? If not, what could it be? Speculations are flying around the gun community as to the validity of this flyer. According to the image below, Glock is set to introduce a new line of pistols early next year. The main assumptions are either a single-stack 9mm or a .380 (.380 is unlikely, since they already have this line for law enforcement only). A .380 MAY be likely if they’re manufactured in the USA.

Glock releases in sequence, so if a G42 is in the works, we’d imagine a G41 and G40 would also be available shortly after. It’s all speculation at this point.

I, for one, wouldn’t mind a compact single-stack 9mm Glock.

All I can say is if in fact it is a single stack 9mm, you can put my name on the list. Heck I might even consider the .380. I'm not getting my hopes up at all, but I do have a birthday coming up in February Edited by KKing

I agree on the SS 9mm, but it depends on if they do it right. For $540 its going to have to be right.

ETA-I am not getting my hopes up on them releasing anything I want.

Do we assume that the 41 will be a 9mm variant?

Glock already announced the G41 to be a tactical practical 45. A G21 frame with a G34 width slide but for 45acp, making it lighter than a G 21.

I think the .380 will sell, but I think the 9mm would have been a better market move.

Completely agree, I think it was a huge market miss but heck I'll probably pick one up for summer carry when I head to the beach if they turn out okay. Just for sh*ts and giggles.

I can't do the 42 in .380, just too many more practical options like the LCP, KT P3AT, S&W BG, etc.  They are all smaller, lighter and proven well enough.  The Glock 42 is sort of like the Sig Mosquito.  The only people who like the Mosquito are Sig fanboys, the only excuse to like the Glock 42 is that it is a Glock in a new caliber, however dumb a market move when compare to putting out a single stack narrow 9mm.  Makes me want the Whitney Wolverine offspring, the Remington R51.

If I were interested in a 380, I would give this gun a good look. And I would likely choose it over the others due to the trigger even though its a little bigger and heavier. I am very disappointed, but not surprised, that the 42 turned out to be a 380 instead of a 9mm. Hopefully a 9mm will follow this one.

I'll stick with my Sig P238. Same capacity, same round. Better looking.

FTFY. The Sig is a great little gun.
We should be excited , why ? Even the video presenter looks bored
+1 Even the way he presents it is odd. "You guys asked for it" almost sounds like " it's your fault, we HAD to so don't blame us"

I just compared the measurements from my shield to the G42 measurements listed in the video. There is only VERY  little difference in size from it to the Shield. I say if you have a 9mm Shield then there is no reason to get this 42 unless you just want to get it. I'm keeping my 9mm Shield. I am a die-hard Glock guy but I still can't believe Glock went with .380 . Unreal.
