Elderly?

I had a preacher once tell me that no one will screw you faster than family and fellow Christians. Trust, but verify.

My Dad, a devout Christian, told me early on to distrust anyone talking biz who touts their religion right off the bat as credentials -- and if you've shaken his hand, count your fingers immediately.

It would be interesting to see if you feel the same when you are that age. Considering the eyesight and hearing go, and how frequently they are defrauded, I give them a break.

i give them a break all the time,  I bend over backwards being nice.  It would be nice if that was a two way street.   No one is defrauding them at our store.  A big part of their protection is us not handling their credit cards.

Lots of our senior citizen customers are nice, polite and social people.  Just the rude self centered one's make it easy to forget about the normal old people.

I much prefer working nights when the median age of the customers drops by about thirty years.  Not to forget about the attractive woman with loose moral values.

My big hope is when I hit total geezerville I have the mental ability to use that last bullet properly.

In ten years I plan on being the guy who makes your employees miserable. Except I like shopping and going out nights.

Thats a plan, have to have SOMETHING TO DO. Might as well make young people cry.

Just don't be that old guy that tries to "hang" with the young crowd. I've got a boss like that, wants nothing to do with anyone who acts like a mature adult. Then when he leaves all the young guys he tries to impress just laugh and make fun of him.

just remember the stripe goes down.

I do suppose that in ten years none of us will have credit/debit cards any longer anyhow, we will all have some kind of implant or iris scan that does it all.

Just to be clear, I wasn't insinuating that you don't give them a break or treat them badly - nor that you or your store were defrauding them. I just think their conduct is more of a result of their sensory deficits and criminal prey status than anything else.
