I don't get into detailed cuts and mostly stick to roast, stew, ground meat and slice up the blackstrap but if that would be enough to satisfy your butchering needs I'd be glad to help you on the next one. I'm not great at it but I do get it done.

Thanks Luke! Sorry fellas, I've been out of service for the last half of the day and just now getting back on here to respond to all of the gestures of kindness. And as Dave said, just another reason to love this site!

rugerla1 it's kinda late in the game but I live right over in MJ and have a grinder and all t hat stuff and space to do it. if you bring them we can butcher them in my garage. I'd be glad to help. If it's as cold as they say this weekend I'll even fire up a Redi-heater. I just hate for you to have to restrict the number you want to shoot just because of the cost of processing.

JWC I really appreciate that and if luck is on my side tomorrow I may send you a message. I'm actually taking my 9 year old nephew out for his first ever deer hunting trip. Nice temp for him to start off in HA HA!

I got the doe dropped off at the processor and she weighed 110# field dressed. Very happy with that. Getting my first batch of breakfast sausage out of this one YUM!!!

Thanks again JWC!!

Good luck to any of you that are going this weekend. I'm gonna try it in the morning if the wind is calm. I 've been seeing bucks chasing does. I saw a shooter Sat. but, couldn't get a good shot. Then Wed. 2 bucks that looked to be 2 1/2 yr. olds.

I saw a 6 pointer Wednesday and a bunch of does, didn't work out, but cool to see them. Good luck to you as well sir!

Man, i'm torn.  Last weekend to hunt and my hunting partner is down with the flu and my brother in law has to work.  Trying to decide if I want to head out in the morning and try to get the ones that got away earlier in the season.

sigh, I'll prolly head out, I can work on the cabin if I don't see anything in the morning.

I'd help you out but I still lean on my FIL for help on most things that deal with hunting.

This talk of 1-3 inches of snow Sunday has me really pumped! Very rarely do I get to hunt in snow. Good luck to everyone who goes out tomorrow or Sunday. There has been a squirrel that's been mean muggin me for a few weeks, Sunday he better watch his attitude!!

Yep it's supposed to get awful cold. I'd stand out in it to help you clean the deer but I sure can't offer an indoor place to do it. JWC it sounds like you have the perfect setup!

It's definitely not perfect but I have pretty much all I need. I wish I had room to leave stuff set up. But I have to put my table and grinder and stuff up because it gets in the way.

Well good luck and seriously you can text me at 615-423-7460. I honestly don't mind. With 3 (or 2.5) of us we could knock one, or a couple, out in no time.

I'm getting out there tomorrow morning.  Alarm is set to wake me up about 5.5hrs from now!  Cold wont affect me fortunately because I'll be in a nice box blind with a Mr. Buddy Heater.  Last time I used it, I ended up kicking off my boots and making myself comfortable. haha! This will be my last deer hunt until bow season!

Well my nephew and I had a great time. No deer, didn't even see any. I think they were smarter than the humans and slept in till it warmed up lol. Saw two HUGE tom turkeys though and tons of squirrels, so at least he got to see Gods creatures in their habitat. He lasted 2 1/2 hours and didn't move TOO much haha. Anyone have anything moving?

I haven't seen a thing. Wind is stating to pick up and the sun is out. Going to give it a few more hours before a lunch break and then may come back out.
Y'all may laugh at me for this but I can take it. The combination of about 4 hours of sleep, a warm heater and not seeing anything made me so sleepy! So I laid down in my blind and took a 20 minute nap, then got up and drank a 5hr energy (those things keep you awake because they are so gosh awful bitter!). Needless to say I an feeling much better, but I also probably had the biggest buck in West TN cross my field when I was catching some z's. Haha

^^^ Ha Ha! I had a 5 hour sour this morning too. I wanted to stay longer, at least till lunch but lil man was freezing so didn't want his first trip to be his last. Good luck Slappy, that 14 pointer you slept through will definitely come back

And thats a wrap for my 2013 deer season, unless of course I was a poacher, then I can hunt year round.   :squint:

Time to start maintenance on the property, trimming up trails, fixing washed out areas, setting the feeders back up and planning for the summer food plots.  This year we will be planting cowpeas, soybeans and corn.  Maybe a few other things but I'm not quite sure yet.

I don't ever remember being sad about deer season ending.  I am just really getting to be a softy in my old age (28 geesh), realizing that life is short and I never feel like there is enough time to do the things that I love.  I have my faith, I know that when the time comes I will have ultimate fulfillment in heaven but I am here on this earth now and I still will miss the blessings we have here on this earth but I digress...

I got my first bow kill as well as my first muzzleloader kill this year and we have taken 12 doe off our property consistent with our herd management goals.

I am glad to see many here have had safe and successful hunts as well!  We have learned more about our properties we hunt, more about deer patters and behaviors and have all become better sportsmen.

Next up will be Turkey Season March 29th!  Someone needs to warn my dogs that I will start practicing my calling soon.  It drives them nuts.

Anyways, I have certainly enjoyed the hunting conversations this season.  Now lets get talking about thunder chickens and fishin'!

I'm going to do my best to get out in the morning on this the last day of deer season. I may get out one more time and take my little Grandson out on the youth hunt. Just because deer season is over is no reason not to stay in touch here in the hunting threads. It's been fun guys!

Went this morning, stayed til 10, no deer. I did see a coyote sneak across behind me, but not in time to get a shot off. Will try again tomorrow, hopefully can bag one more. Wish we had one more week, its going to be to cold to work the first part of the week. Guess I'll do a little reloading. But can't complain though I have taken 4 this year using 3 different rifles. Was wanting to take one with the SBH again this year but hasn't worked out. I'll take it and the 30-30 tomorrow as I haven't taken anything with either this year, never know tomorrow may be the day. Any way been a good season with some memorible times.  Good luck to everyone who is going to give it one last shot tomorrow.

That would've been awesome if you got a chance at the coyote! Congrats to you on your harvest this year  :usa:

Yeah, thanks Ruger I was looking out to north. Turned to pour a little coffee and caught a glimpse of him coming acroos the south side and couldn't get on him fast enough. I would have loved to give him a flip with the ole turdy-turdy. May try and see about getting a few of them now that deer season is coming to an end. My neighbor missed one last week, he said it was runnig across in front of him but never stopped so he took a shot at it running but didn't have any luck.
